Very strange place.
Eccentric rule about NO SHOES in bedrooms.
Odd ability only to serve me breakfast at 9.45 in an empty restaurant
Bizzare parking arrangemnts off-site
All door locks work backwards
And finally , protracted argumets with manager who disputed whether I had prepaid (I had), and whether I had paid for breakfast (I had)
An absentee owner was barking orders into his phone while I discusse all this
All in all a very eccentric stay

Fantastic stay in the Casterbridge Hotel. It was a last minute booking, but that didnt worry the lovely owner. The hotel was beautiful and clean, we stayed in a room with a four poster bed which was amazing. The hotel decor is in keeping with the age of the building and looks beautiful. The owner was extremely knowledgeable and helpful on the best places to eat and things to do in and around Dorchester. Breakfast was delicious, freshly cooked and local produce, pleanty of choice. We will definitely be back

Can't believe anyone would give a bad review of this delightful place. Yes it has quirky decor but we loved it and the service from all the staff was outstanding with all the extra treats. Breakfast was delicious with lots of healthy options too. Thanks for making my birthday so special.

We stayed for two nights at The Casterbridge in May 2024. I cannot fault Noorani, who assisted me from when I made the booking to our checkout. Our room was delightful and extremely comfortable. Our host provided many recommendations for eating in Dorchester and exploring local areas. Thank you.

We had a very pleasant stay at the Casterbridge, personally hosted by Noorani, its experienced, friendly and informative Owner. The room was clean and spacious, beautifully decorated, with all the amenities and comforts of home away from home. The breakfasts were tailored to our wishes -- an ample and delicious start to our day exploring the sites of the city and environs. Off-street parking is offered free, a block away, which was important, given the guesthouse's urban address. The common areas of the Casterbridge are decorated with a variety of interesting, eclectic art works, and the building is convenient to many sites. When we checked out I accidentally left behind a well-loved shawl; I contacted Noorani right away, and she promptly went out of her way to mail it back to me. We highly recommend this hotel.

We went to discover new places and I must say Dorchester is a very beautiful place.The hotel is very traditional,nice and tidy,very central and easy to connect to places.It has few areas for recreation and the staff was very kind to us.If you go to dorchester,here is the place to be!

My recent stay at the Casterbridge was definitely one of the best hotels I have stayed in Dorchester. When I arrived I was welcomed by Noorani who is breath of fresh air, with her relaxing and welcoming vibe which is reflected on the atmosphere throughout the hotel. The Hotel is spotlessly clean with every attention to detail. The room itself was lovely and the bed was so comfy. I will definitely return to the Casterbridge.

Comfy, cosy and classy! We had a fantastic time in Dorchestor and the Casterbridge made sure we had comfy beds, delicious food and the big smiles. Their staff were very warm and kind and let me have a couple of extra sausages at breakfast. If you’re going to Dorchestor, I can’t recommend this place enough!
