Great place where to stay. The breakfast was alright. The room was clean though quite a few spider webs by the ceiling window. The pole that we had in the room to open the window was not easy to use and I think was faulty, I’d advise to replace it. Overall a good stay. The location is good too. A lovely garden which we were lucky enough (due to the good weather) able to use.

Great hotel. Slightly off the beaten track but well worth it. Stayed here for two nights with a group of friends. All the staff were so helpful and friendly especially Rachel. Dinner and breakfast each day were excellent. Bedrooms spacious and clean with comfy beds. Just felt the shower could do with an upgrade. Lovely big beer garden at the rear. Would definitely visit again.

We didn't stay here but we ate dinner here 3 nights out of four of our stay in Dorset. I would have given 4 or 5 stars as the food was lovely but on the last evening (Weds 2nd July) the service was not as good and there was a woman with 3 men in the beer garden talking very loudly (we weren't close to her table) about her "t*ts" and who had seen them etc for quite some time. There seemed to be little to no awareness of her volume and/or of others around her who might not want to hear such stuff. She seemed to be either ex-staff, off-duty staff or a well-known regular. If we'd had any more time in Dorset, we wouldn't have gone back after that. What a shame.

We booked a table and informed them of gluten free allergy. We arrived and got shown to our table, waited 15 minutes to order drinks ( tables were coming in after us and getting served before our table). The waiter came over to order food, I enquired about what food was gluten free and was told to scan the bar code on the back of the menu which bought up the allergy guide, which was quite hard to read though ( wish I had been told when I got seated the the table as I could of been looking ) I had a carvery ( exception of Yorkshire pudding, stuffing and cauliflower cheese ( according to allergy menu was gluten free but they had changed it during the day) as it wasn't gluten free ). The carvery was nice, lots of choice of vegetables, but we did eat in the evening so not a lot of choice of meats left. We ordered desserts and I double checked that the mini chocolate brownie was gluten free, as according to the allergen menu it was, the waitress checked and it was a may contain of gluten but it didn't say this on the allergy menu so please always check first. All the waitress said when I asked why it was not marked on the allergy menu as a may contain and she said well good job I checked! Not really the response I wanted as the allergy menu should be accurate. I have coeliac disease so if I do consume gluten I become very poorly, I feel that the staff should be more aware of this and its not me being fussy its about staying safe and well. We would of stayed for another drink but the service wasn't very good and welcoming so we decided to go home for a drink instead.

Very good stay Fantastic stay, good breakfast and dinner. Reduced one star because of the WiFi issues inside the room. Couldn’t work from the room using the hotel WiFi.

Cozy, friendly place. 7 of 10 The room is on top of a typical countryside pub. Standard pub room condition, definitely not worth a 8.8 rating. The hand wash sink was blocked, shower head was broken, furnitures were old and not so clean. Although service was very friendly and helpful. I would rate it 7 of 10, maybe other rooms are better.
