Great place where to stay. The breakfast was alright. The room was clean though quite a few spider webs by the ceiling window. The pole that we had in the room to open the window was not easy to use and I think was faulty, I’d advise to replace it. Overall a good stay. The location is good too. A lovely garden which we were lucky enough (due to the good weather) able to use.

The Countryman Inn is that rare thing: a real country pub you can stay in that hasn’t lost its country-pub inn vibe. The service we got from Rhi and Justin was EXCELLENT! Thank you for making us so welcome. The decor is very tasteful, fresh and in keeping with the pub. Only two minor things that can be improved: The bathroom in the triple suite is looking a bit tired (but was very clean which is the main thing). There are not really vegan options on the menu. The kitchen were happy to adapt the avo & egg on toast for us (thank you!) but the avocado was hot which was a bit odd. Back to the positives: the location was superb. Really peaceful and hidden away, but easy to get to. There is ample parking. I would definitely stay here again.

My partner and I came here for an evening meal in March 2024. Had been here previously years ago and happy to report that it’s better than ever. The food was really tasty and good quality produce and was great value for money. Staff were friendly and attentive and the decor was lovely. Would highly recommend 😀

We have stayed here previously, but new owners have taken over, and it was amazing, everyone so friendly and helpful. The menu is much more extensive, and the food was fantastic. The rooms are so comfortable and quiet, and the breakfast was amazing, the signature was a challenge as it was huge. And as I mentioned earlier the owners and staff are really engaging and friendly. We will definitely return. Thank you all.

Visited for lunch with friends during Christmas period. Opted for traditional Christmas meal, which was delicious and the whole party was very impressed with their meals. Wide range of dishes available at reasonable prices. The pub decor is very cosy with real fires, adding to the general ambiance. The pub management has very recently changed and the staff are very friendly and welcoming. Will definitely visit again.

There is new management ... Forget the bad reviews of 2022 they no longer apply. Service was attentive and friendly. Lovely log fire was welcome too. The food was excellent with something for everyone on the menu. My, usually very particular, friend raved about the Vietnamese Prawn Curry. We are local and hadn't been here for years because it wasn't great but now we will definitely be going there to eat fairly frequently.

The first impression is good, spacious areas, many outside seating facilities and well kept gardens. The bedrooms are roomy with king size beds, the bathrooms were disappointing, antiquated basin and bath fittings and the cleanliness could have been better, one major complaint was, the water was too hot, warning signs were present, but too small for anyone with poor eyesight and dangerous for children. The restaurant service was appalling, the staff were inexperienced without any knowledge of the taking orders in most cases we had to go to the staff to ask to be attended to. One evening the main course was finished by 8.15pm at 8.45 we had to go to find the staff to take an order for our pudding only to be told the kitchen was shut at 8.00. No apology was offered until a former complaint was made, two drinks were offered free as compensation. The pictures of the fare on the website are misleading to say the least.

Stayed for 2 nights whilst visiting old friends. It was quite expensive, but the amenities were great, large carpark at front and at the rear, lots of tablesoutside, nicely decorated restaurant, good food, albiet limited choice, the food was good, and all the staff very friendly and helpful. The room (2) was spacious and well appointed, the kingsize bed was comfortable, and all the plumbing worked well. There was a table and 2 comfortable chairs, a desk and chair, and tea and coffee at hand. 2 large bath towels each, and a small hand towel each. And the breakfast had good choices with full breakfast, eggs benedict, pancakes maple syrup and bacon, and other hot choices, aswell as toast, cereal, and fruit juice with tea and coffee, so we were well pleased with our stay, and all the staff. Well done to the countryman.
