Aquarius Vacation Club at Dorado del Mar

I should have known that a 3 star wouldn’t live up to my expectations. Hoped to have a quiet ocean/pool experience. Only families were here with loud kids. Perfect for them. We are seniors and hoped to end our cruise vacation with a enjoyable time.

The room was not ready at 4pm check in and staff was not surprised by this at all. When we finally entered, we found wet tiled floors that had been moped but were still cracked, old and had dirty grout. The carpet in the living area and bedroom is carpet squares of the cheapest kind and look like it had never been shampooed. WEAR flip flops or slippers at all times in the room. The floors are just dirty. The bathroom, OMG the bathroom. Water shoes or flip flops in the shower is an absolute must! The kitchen area had pots that must be 30 years old and we weren’t even provided a sponge. The dishwasher was coming out of the wall and the washer and dryer were absolutely ancient. There is some good though. The bed was comfortable and clean. There is good WiFi and the TVs have many cable channels. The location is perfect. The pools are very nice and there is a small beach area. The pools, like the rest of the property is NOT kept to a hygienic level I’d want but it’s ok. The hot tub, is not one I’d enter though I LOVE hot tubs.

Here are the issues with this hotel. 1. Mold ( had to go to urgent care due to the amount of mold in hotel/HVAC systems) 2. bad customer service 3. Rooms had green algae covering windows. 4. Trash in hallways. For those that are considering this hotel, please don't risk your vacation. The lower prices don't offset the issues that you will have. I am a home inspector so I know what mold is and the health risk that come with it. Aquarius if you read this message, please use a remediation service to cleanse hotel of mold.

The room was a whole apartment with direct access to the pool it was way better than described a full kitchen with appliances jacuzzi and absolutely everything a home have thank you way better then described

I stayed at this hotel with a friend in April. When we arrived I was told they do not need to hold a credit card because I am a member. We got to our room and it had an extreme smell of mold and was damp. We requested to move because it seemed unhealthy to sleep there. They moved us to another room, which still had a slight odor but was much better. A few days later I was called down to office to provide my credit card. I was confused and mentioned the conversation from check in. They said it is a formality and was an error from check in. Then we were told that when the cleaners came to the room they saw that the bathroom mirror was broken. We told them there were many things wrong with the room but we didn't want to complain again after already requesting to change rooms and these were mostly minor issues. They asked us to write everything wrong with the room onto a sheet and said they would not be charging the credit card. We gave them the list of problems in the room. Six weeks later I had a charge on my credit card for the mirror. I've contacted them several times and the manager will not call me back but I'm told they investigated the situation and determined that we broke the mirror. The situation feels deceptive and the hotel was very broken down with many needs including the broken mirror. I would not recommend staying there.
