INTRO This is a comprehensive review which suits those who are looking for a long-term accommodation in Doha, Qatar. The perspective comes from staying at the Dusit Doha Hotel for almost three years as a married couple with a baby. APARTMENT The hotel is divided into hotel rooms and apartments. We stayed in the three-bedroom apartment which has a fourth bedroom when you include the maid’s room. The apartment comprised an en-suite master bedroom and two bedrooms with two single beds each. We wish that one of the smaller bedrooms had a queen size bed, so that when our families visited, the couples could sleep in the same bed. Besides the master bedroom, there are three toilets including the powder room, shared bathroom, and maid’s room. The windowless maid’s room appears small but it has a spacious shower. This was a positive and it was the best maid’s room found among the many hotels we toured. When my wife’s family visited, all the rooms were utilised: her parents in one bedroom, two brothers in the other and her sister in the maid’s room. We liked the apartment for its large living room and long dining table good for eight people, as well as the bar seating for four. We also prefer the minimalist design of the apartment over the vintage design at the other Dusit Hotel and Suites. The kitchen counter and cupboard storage are spacious. We were concerned with an uncovered kitchen but there are two ventilated fans to vent out any smell. The minor drawback is the sink is small for cleaning large pans, albeit there is a dishwasher for that purpose. Another issue is the bathroom with the bath tub is slightly high, so be careful getting down from the tub. Note that the apartments are situated in the higher floors. The highest floor is the 31st floor where the swimming pool is. We stayed at the 27th floor which has a nice view of the City Centre Mall as well as the Corniche and Old Doha Port in the distance. LOCATION The hotel’s location is a significant reason why we chose Dusit. It is very close to the City Centre Mall and in good weather, it is walkable to go to the Gate Mall and metro station. As long-term residents, we figured it would be better to not choose a hotel attached to a mall because we feared getting stuck in the traffic. The Hotel is close to Legtaifiya where most embassies are, so this can be convenient for some diplomats. It is also close to touristy attractions at Katara and Lusail. Getting to the airport can take up to 25 minutes which is decent. Also, the traffic around here is far better than at the hotels closer to Souq Wakif and Msheireb. DINING AND FACILITIES There are several dining options. Taste Restaurant serves the standard hotel breakfast. There is a premium Thai restaurant called Benjarong which won the best Thai restaurant award in Qatar. There is an elegant Parisian café called Antoinette where the pastries and ice creams are good. There is a pub called the Londoner and it serves British food as well as a night
