Dillard House

Nice big room in the Cabin Bald building.One major complaint in this era All Place should have raised toilets with some type of hand rail.

We had always wanted to try the Dillard house, we stopped while traveling and were surprised we could get right in. Dinner time and the place was empty save for one table. Now we know why! The food arrived at the table before we were completely seated. The quality of food was horrendous! One melted to mush Stouffer's type, stuffed pepper, a scoop of white mashed potatoes with no gravy, browning coleslaw, tomatoes that were partially dried out from sitting uncovered so long, a random vegetable (corn) straight out of a can and one piece (leg) of soggy, greasy what looked to be boxed oven baked chicken. These new owners serve low quality food and they very obviously do not care how they serve it, keep it or prepare it, and the price was $30 a person!! We actually walked out the food looked so gross and entirely inedible. It resembled slop. Stay away!! Go anywhere else!! It's sad to see a once well respected, famous restaurant turned into this slop hole. The new owners should be ashamed but it's very obvious they do not care.

I have always wanted to stay at this location and I am so excited that I did. The room was VERY spacious and had a wonderful, peaceful balcony you could sit and enjoy nature. The surrounding area was very beautiful and you are able to walk around and enjoy a peaceful stroll without the business of traffic. The BEST part is you get to eat at the Dillard House, which is an experience in itself. I have eaten here many times and they never disappoint!!! Checking in was very easy and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Just note Dillard is a small mountain town, so if you are looking for the hype of a city town you are not going to find it here. If you want to relax and enjoy a quiet retreat this is your place. I highly recommend this location.

Out of the ordinary A gem on the countryside. Quite comfy rooms, little verandas with view to the countryside and a must try family restaurant.

Amazing getaway The property was so beautiful! The rooms could use some updating but that added to the charm. The restaurant was delicious and you never left hungry. We went horseback riding in the river and had the best time! Our tour guide Megan was friendly and made us feel comfortable. We had so much fun and can’t wait to go back! The only complaint I have about the room is the ac wasn’t the best. It was hot in our room and the ac barely ran even after we turned it down. Overall we had an amazing time at Dillard House and we can’t wait to return!

All very good except for a giant spider I found in the bathroom at midnight. Considering the outdoor environment and the facility age, it is understandable but should get attention. My wife may get so scared and change a room immediately, if she came with me this time.
