Sommerau-Ticino Swiss Quality Hotel

Far too hot to stay here in the summer the AC doesn’t work. Reception said there isn’t any. The window wouldn’t open and only had a fan to blow on me all night. Could be worse my colleague don’t even have a fan!!! Breakfast is very basic. Just a cheap coffee machine and limited continental and hot food, not worth the money. It was a great location for the train station.

I arrived and got to my first room (106). Room was so hot (around 29 degrees celsius), no ac in the room. I went for the toilet and instantly noticed some black hairs on the bathroom door and also at the bottom of the tub. Next thing i noticed was some flies flying around the room (at least two or three). I managed to kill one and this was the point i decided to go back to reception to complain about the situation. Receptionist started to circuling around the complaints which honestly was pretty irritating ”this is so weird, hasn’t happened ever before, maybe maid had window open and flies came in cuz of that”. She then decided to give me another room (124) that had been cancelled by someone else. When i went back to my first room to pick up my stuff, the key didn’t work. Had to reactivate it at reception. Now i was onto checking the 2nd room, which also had some black hairs in the tub, bathroom counter, and the big shower towel. Toilets bowl was also filthy. Second rooms temperature was at least same as the 1st ones (around 30c) . It was like sauna to say the least, no ac just a little table fan. Next thing i noticed was this huge spider crawling on the ceiling that i had to kill. I waited until the sun went down so i could open the windows to cool down the room. When i opened the windows i noticed that every single window had massive spider webs and spiders crawling all over the place. At least few managed to get inside that i also killed. Room key stopped working also for this room at one point and once again i had to go to the reception to reactivate it. When i booked room from this hotel i didn’t expect to live in a sauna and doing bug hunt through out my two night staying. When i was changing the room and i was at the reception to drop my first rooms key back, there was someone else saying ”the 2nd room is even hotter than the first one”. When i left and the receptionist (different person from the first one when i arrived and who gave me another room) asked me about my staying i told all the things listed above and she started to circuling around the complaints (you should have put the lights out to not attract the spiders to come in, you could have closed the certains etc…). Now i get the saying that rich people are rich because they save on everything. I thought Switzerland is one of the richest countries in europe and the whole world but you can’t even get a proper cooling system for your three star hotel. I arrived from Milan where i was staying in a TWO STAR hotel and it had a properly working AC. And please don’t tell me that the summers are so short and people should enjoy it lol. Stay far away from this place!
