We stayed in a Beach Residence with Plunge Pool, on half board. The good: * property was excellent, with plenty of space. Very private, and access direct to the beach. * exceptional fish within a short swim from the property. Having a house reef was our main reason for picking Hideaway, and it didn't disappoint. We snorkelled (didn't Scuba), and there was still a ton to see, including turtles, stingrays, sharks (placid, never aggressive!) and every colour of fish you could imagine. * food was excellent, and there was plenty of variation. It's expensive, but the quality's high. * gym was excellent, and well equipped with quite new machines and free weights. * still water was free of charge, and our room was always well supplied with fresh bottles. * we tried lunch in a couple of different places. We didn't need to book in advance, and the service was consistently great, and very friendly. * almost zero mosquitoes. The bad: * nothing really bad. The pool had some sharp edges, so might not be safe for small children. * sports facilities, spa treatments, food and drink are all very expensive. If they'd been 25% cheaper, we would have indulged far more, and probably spent lots more money. For now, it feels like management has the balance slightly wrong. The so-so: * butler system sounded good, but felt a bit intrusive after a while: we didn't need to see them at every breakfast/dinner. Mostly, our assumption is that they're tasked with upselling, and we had no interest in that. That said, we had a couple of minor issues, and these were sorted within 24 hours. Thanks to Shahin and Shaheed for their help. And a special call-out to Manoj, the Fruit Chef. Always polite and professional, and the best selection of fresh fruit we'd ever encountered.
