Surf Shanty Motel

It was so cute, very clean, comfortable bedding, perfect room temperature, quiet, and close to the beach. The staff was super friendly. I called early the day of arrival and they expedited getting our room ready before check in time. We will definitely visit again.

Great location close to the beach and restaurants/nightlife, and just across the street from Dewey Post for breakfast and coffee. Appears to be recently renovated, rooms were cute and clean. Check info sent ahead of time, so got to go straight to room on arrival. Wi-Fi wasn’t fantastic but good enough for basic use.

The rooms and hotels have been recently remodeled and evince a simple, elegant style. But this excellent style -- complete with well chosen coffee table books -- could still do with some tweaking from more standard establishments. First, the amenities. There's no coffee maker or...cups for that matter. There was bottled water (2 small bottles) but cups would have been helpful. There's no bar soap. Fully recognizing the fancy soaps they have available, it was a bit weird to have to squeeze liquid soap from a metal tube every time you wanted to wash your hands. There's also no desk in the room, so if you need a place to log in to work you'll need to use the lobby-like space on the first floor. Finally, while recognizing this is a self-service motel, they assigned us to someone else's room. We were able to fix it quickly by calling the number on the reservation but if nobody answered it would have been a problem. Overall, the place has a lot of potential and it was a decent stay but manage expectations appropriately. The staff were polite and helpful.

Definitely the best hotel at the beach. Ocean block, recently renovated, everything is brand new. Retro style, with free bike rentals, close to all the restaurants and bars, free parking, service was excellent, what’s not to love! LOVED THIS PLACE!

Definitely will be back! Loved loved LOVED it! This motel is about 150-200 steps from the beach. It was perfect for our stay. The manager was attentive and helpful. The rooms were super clean and the beds were so comfortable. I slept so well here. Definitely will be back!

If you're looking for a cozy, comfortable, and well-located spot for a beach getaway, the Surf Shanty Motel in Dewey Beach is an absolute gem! From the moment we arrived, I was impressed by how clean and well-kept everything was. The room was incredibly comfortable, providing the perfect place to unwind. Comfortable beds, huge TV and great shower. One of the highlights for me was the motel's prime location—it’s just a short walk to the beach or the bay and you're also close to some of the best restaurants. The little touches at Surf Shanty Motel really set it apart. They offer wonderful products like Malin and Goetz and Waiākea water. It's clear the owners and Andre the manager put a lot of thought into creating a welcoming atmosphere with those thoughtful details. It made my stay feel extra special and made me eager to return in the future. All in all, it's an excellent choice for anyone looking to enjoy Dewey Beach in comfort and style. I’ll definitely be back!
