The Bay Resort

An overall positive experience at the Bay Resort. Staff is friendly and the bay view is unmatched in Dewey Beach. It's time for the owners to put some money into much needed updates for the property. The fan in our bathroom sounded like an airplane and the door was difficult to shut, just to name a couple. I feel the parking fee is unnecessary, just add it into the cost of the room so we don't feel like we're getting ripped off. We have always enjoyed staying here and I'm sure will continue to do so in the future.

The Location was fine but gave a 2 because of the parking scam at the Bay Resort Waterfront Hotel. When you check in the staff gives you a parking pass to hang from your rear-view mirror and I happened to put it on the front dashboard of the car as did other tenants I also gave them my License plate number which was on the application when we arrived. My wife and I left the room to go to dinner and saw a tow truck driver jacking up a friends car and our car was on the list to be towed next and when I went to the front desk they told me my tag was not on the rearview mirror, and the dashboard is not the appropriate place. We resolved by just sheer luck of timing to find out it would have cost us $150 for the tow and another $300 for storage at the garage and when I asked the front desk attendant why he wouldn't just check the license plate against his computer records the response was "we do not do that". That night at a local establishment someone told us "you have to be careful of that scam between the tow company and the hotel staff" I do not know if that is 100% true but it is extremely fishy that 2 cars were to be towed and both were residents of that hotel. Just be very careful of that parking/tow sham

We were very happy with our one night stay at the Bay Resort. The location is ideal and the staff was exceptionally friendly. The room is a bit dated but it was clean and the beds were comfortable and that’s most important to us. The woman that runs the front desk was one of the nicest hotel employees I’ve come in contact with.

Our group stayed here for a bachelor party. The staff was super nice and very accommodating for our requests. Rooms were clean. Toilets are low sitting.

This property has a lot of potential since it’s right in the heart of Dewey, faces the bay on an attractive cove, and is a short walk to the beach. Unfortunately it is poorly run and not kept up. We were among several customers whose check in was significantly delayed because the rooms were not clean. No one at the front desk seemed to care, shrugging it off like it was par for the course. Worse, than the delay was the broken down, rattling AC system. It made such a horrible racket that we had to turn it off in order to sleep. This of course meant foregoing AC on a hot night. Consequently no one got much sleep. When I reported the problem to the front desk, the response was “yeah, those need to be replaced”. It astounds me that we spent over $350 a night for this place. I do not recommend it.

No way to request bed linen change. They brought towels each day but didn’t empty trash or change sheets the entire week.
