Hilton Garden Inn Detroit Downtown

The rooms where good (Not $400 a night good). They had an update to the room key issues all weekend. We were on the 8th floor. We had to take multiple trips back down to the front desk 8 times in 2 days and need an escort to get in our rooms. On the day of the check out, we dropped our luggage off at our car and grabbed breakfast, we did not check out. We tried to get back in our room around 10am and the cleaning staff were in our room cleaning it. Check out is at noon. We did not check out of our room, and we wanted to stay in there until 11am. This has happened another time 2 years ago at the same hotel. Why do they start cleaning rooms before people check out?

Couldn't ask for a better location for our trip to Detroit. My husband and I travel to different MLB ballparks during the summer and this year our travels took us to Detroit. This hotel was centrally located to all stadiums and plenty of great food & drink options within walking distance. The hotel itself is older but was clean and the staff was friendly. We had a jr suite and the room had plenty of space with a small fidge and coffee maker. We did have an issue with the tv in the sitting area not getting channels and asked for them to look at it but it wasn't fixed by the time we left. I believe it was a cable issue. The a/c is set at a higher temp and since we were traveling during the heat wave we had to kee adjusting it down. It was fine, just annoying. Although the city is going through a ton of construction, they have done a great job to make it a great city to visit. We also took a trip out the Rocket Classis PGA golf tournament and had a great time there as well. It was an easy Uber ride to and from. Detroit didn't disappoint.

If I had paid for just the reg room rate it would have been a 5/5. However I booked a rate that was supposed to have in room snacks and a Detroit Themed treat. We never did receive our Detroit themed treat. After asking a very kind and pleasant desk employee did produce a goodie bag that had- only 2 sodas/2waters and 2 bags of chips and 2 sweet treats. Of which most my family did not prefer. Due to construction and a sense of the front desk being overwhelmed I did not fuss further for a second bag of goodies at check out or about the Detroit themed treat. It did include 2 breakfast buffet land covered our parking (We arrived at. 8 am on our check in day and were able to park at valet until check out the next morning) Again minus a few things a perfect hotel for Ford Field, Comerica Park, LCA events if you want to walk.
