The Dorset Hotel

We came in for dinner last night. Sri Lanka fish curry on the board $28. All got charged $30.40 for it. Not great guys. Also what little tiny bits of fish and do mean tiny still had skin on and tasted horrible so we all Dug the fish out. Would have been good to have even a bite size piece skin off that did not seem like scrapings left on a cutting board from filleting. At the price you charged expected a lot better.

Friendly and relaxed service, great food, cosy atmosphere, in a top central location. The beer garden at rear is a handy rest stop along the river trail for afternoon rehydration and refuelling, complete with bike rack. Can’t wait to come back!

Great service, nothing to much effort. Food was fab and served very quickly. Bar staff were great at recommending various drinks and food. Such a great vibe and the pub has some great historical memorabilia placed throughout

We went to the Dorset for dinner. Never again. The staff there have absolutely no understanding of customer service. They were rude, unhelpful and unprofessional. We waited for over two hours for our meals. A number of us had steak. It was a good cut but completely destroyed in the kitchen and so tough we could hardly eat it. There are many places in Derby with great food and great service. The Dorset is not one of them.

Absolutely terrible experience here. We had called and booked tables for our group 3 weeks prior, but when we arrived they had not reserved a table for us, so we just had to seperate and sit where we could find a seat. After the manager took our large order and lost it twice, we didn’t get our meals for two hours after ordering. Staff were extremely rude during a speech from our guest speaker and interrupted the entire time yelling orders and walking through our group. We went to the hub last night for drinks and pizza and it was much better. When we highlighted our bad experience with the manager he couldn’t care any less and was not apologetic at all. Wouldn’t recommend going here, much better places to eat and drink in Derby.

Our large group of 17 pre booked several weeks prior for dinner. When we arrived, the dining room was not prepared nor large enough to accommodate us. The staff were arrogant and unhelpful. We ordered our meals and waited over 2.5 hours. When they finally arrived, the staff were unapologetic and rude. My food was an over priced, over cooked piece of steak. In contrast the next night, we went to the hub pizza shop down the street for dinner and the cafe for lunch - the Dorset should get lessons from them in customer service and food preparation!
