La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Milwaukee Delafield

First, location, lobby, personnel, breakfast were outstanding for a budget motel. Lobby was beautifully decorated and the breakfast fresh and clean, and much appreciated. This was much better than comparative places. My negative critique comes from the room itself. It smelled horrible, like a homeless person had been living there, even though non-smoking. I realized when I went to bed that even though the sheets appeared very clean, the bed smelled horrible. I always take Chlorox wipes to any motel and wipe down the commonly touched areas, but that wasn’t nearly enough. There was a visible urine spot on the toilet seat, food left between the bathroom and dressing area, The microwave was literally filthy and the fridge had not been cleaned in a good long while. I wiped down enough of the fridge to put some bottles of water in and that was all. i did take some photo’s for illustration. I literally had to go to the store and purchase air freshener and some cleaning supplies to make this tolerable for the two day stay. I could not stand the stench at night and had to get up and spray more air freshener during the night. I was there on business with the room arranged by someone else or I would have left pronto. Delafield is an absolutely lovely area and the location of the motel is perfect! I’d give this 1 star if based just on the room, and feel bad about the 2 stars because aside from the room the place was absolutely lovely. I probably should have asked for a different room, but if this is the housekeeping standard, why would a different room be better? My sense is the housekeepers are the problem and perhaps poorly supervised because the cleanliness of the rooms do not reflect what is otherwise seen in the common areas or with the personnel I encountered, who were all lovely. Perhaps the review will be a wake up call to hake things up. This could be a gold mine, but if others have the same experience, they will not have repeat business.

This is my second week in the hotel. The first was very nice. Staff was accommodating and friendly. Room was clean. This week the room had not been cleaned when I checked in. When I told the desk, the dirty towels, unclean floors and bathroom were just too bad. They are short staffed. My rate went up, and the room went into the toilet. Very disappointing, when I know how they can take care of things. They didn’t reduce the rate, even by a dollar for one night, and they didn’t offer another room. I’m stuck in someone else’s filth. I have weeks left in this area, and planned to stay here the whole time, but as soon as this prepaid booking is done, I’m leaving. They know they have me over a barrel because the room is non refundable. Terrible thing to take advantage of. Go elsewhere to a place that’s cleaned.

Room was clean and well stocked. Staff nicely met our needs. Jets were not working in hot tub. A big disappointment. Key cards would not work for side doors or pool area. Needed to get staff every time we wanted to use pool. Breakfast was ok. We stayed 2 nights for a family wedding. We will choose a different hotel when visiting again.

Room was clean, staff friendly. Breakfast offering was sparse, food not that great, breakfast area limited and crowded.

The rooms were supposed to be 2 double queen beds..let me tell you they do not have queen beds, more like a full size. Our shower made an aweful squeel when in use. My biggest complaint though is that the people next door had all their garbage and the linens laying in the hallway outside the room from around 6pm (maybe longer..we were gone for the afternoon) until the next morning when housekeeping finally went through. I told the staff about the garbage laying in the hall and they seemed shocked to know it was there...looked at it and did nothing about it. I just felt that it should have been taken care of sooner rather than being left in the hall for over 12 hours. Other than that it was ok. It served its purpose.

Nice place. A nice place to stay after a Brewers game. Not as expensive as places closer to the ballpark. Good breakfast.
