Riverwind Inn Bed and Breakfast

Mike and Stacie are wonderful friendly hosts. You feel so welcome and their home is beautiful. It reflects the love and kindness they put into the fabulous accommodations and the 5 star breakfast. We have stayed there a few times and never want to leave. I would recommend this lovely place anytime of the year. Within the friendly little town of Deep River to the neighboring towns of Essex and Old Saybrook you can find so much to do. Definitely a diamond of a place to stay. Donna & Ed Monahan

We’ve been to the inn several times and will continue to do so. The area around the inn is very ‘New England’ charm. We have never had a bad experience there. Mike and Stacie are wonderful hosts. They remember their guests by name and are always interested in what everyone is doing and always have great recommendations for places to eat and see.

Wonderful experience. The inn is charming, our room was comfortable and quiet, and the innkeepers are pros who made everyone feel welcome while juggling the specific quirks and preferences of a constantly changing roster of guests. It's worth seeking out and worth visiting again.

Nestled in the heart of wonderful, friendly, Deep River - this large cozy home invites return visits. Many separate sitting areas with working fireplaces, attractive rooms with comfy beds, and scrumptious gourmet breakfasts make this a top B&B choice for us. But of greatest importance is Stacie and Mike's cordial welcome and desire that guests have a fine time. The location is central to the, Ivoryton, Kate, Terris and Goodspeed playhouses, favorite restaurants, walks by the Connecticut River, and many great activities. Riverwind is as lovely and inviting within as it is from outside. After years of driving by on my way to visit my brother in Deep River, I finally had the occasion to stay at this beautifully kept inn. I noticed the earnest pre-visit questions about the purpose of my visit to the area, and the precise questions about my tastes in breakfast fare. I learned that those questions reflected and informed the genuine interest that Mike and Stacie show in their guests. He made sure I knew where the fresh coffee would be available from 6:30AM onward. He persuaded me that a good breakfast would help get me through a long day of dealing with my brother's insurance company. And yes - the breakfast was spectacular - especially the locally grown and smoked bacon and the amazing Belgian waffles. Riverwind deserves its excellent reputation and multiple awards. I'll be back - the next time my brother's guest room is unavailable - and preferably when it's warm enough to enjoy the lovely back garden.

My family gathered at Riverwind from five states for a fall weekend exploring the lower Connecticut River, and left bemused and enchanted. The river, the eagles, the decades of preservation that have made this international treasure possible contributed much. But as one of us said of Riverwind, our home away from home , “This was genius.” All credit to hosts Michael and Stacie who have made of the nearly two-century -old inn not only their home, but also a fun peaceful well-appointed retreat to which they welcome guests in the most thoughtful way. Generous and delicious gourmet breakfasts, cozy public rooms to gather in for a chat, or to read while sipping sherry, the firepit in the garden with comfy seating, the tall trees, the downy woodpecker that scrabbled around behind the lamppost as I ate breakfast…. hand-drawn local map.. tip about the best place for dinner.. we were sad to leave and plan to return soon and often!
