Situated on the seafront short walk into the town centre. Many restaurants and pubs nearby. Decent sized rooms and nice breakfast. Dog friendly. Paid parking next door. Old fashioned bathroom with weak shower. Some confusion at the front desk where they tried to make me pay for a pre paid room.

Advantages: The room is clean and hygienic, the bed and quilt are comfortable, the beach is right outside the door, and it is convenient to eat nearby. There is also a game arcade nearby. The three beds are suitable for family travel. There are not many breakfast varieties but the taste is okay. Disadvantages: Because of the wooden structure, the sound insulation is not good. No air conditioning, heating. The family room windows face the street, not the sea. The desk clerk is often absent. Overall as expected.

Nice location on the beach in Deal. Decent sized rooms and ok breakfast. Pay car parking next door. Good water pressure and comfy bed. WiFi did not work well kept dropping out and water in shower was not very hot.

A very well positioned hotel in Deal - right on the seafront and great views of the beach and pier. We stayed in a superior double, dual aspect, sea view. A large and comfortable room, well stocked drinks and biscuits tray, lovely bathroom cosmetics, generously replenished each day. The restaurant and bar staff were particularly lovely - Sue W, our breakfast waitress is great - friendly, efficient, and always with a smile. Good breakfasts - veggie full English for my husband each morning; I had avo and smoked salmon, or the Greek yogurt with granola and fruit compote - both delicious and beautifully presented. The breakfast tea was especially enjoyed. A very good range of Kent beers, wines and fizz on offer. We ate evening meal there only once and both of us opted for one of the Specials - grilled mackerel fillets with potato salad - the fish was rather tired, and the promised veg accompaniments rather sparse - well, hard to find. Other dishes going out, however, looked better. We did enjoy a light lunch there one day - side salad, chips, a prawn cocktail - which was so generous with the prawns, and lovely chunky granary bread - again, so nicely presented. On the whole, this is a good hotel - just right for our 3-day break.

Just had a really nice meal at the Royal. We were a party of 13 and the feedback from the whole party was great. We tried many things from the summer menu and all were very much enjoyed. The service was on point. Staff were polite, knowledgeable and professional. The beer was nice and equally enjoyed by all. I have no hesitation in recommending the Royal Hotel. We will certainly be back soon. Thank you and please pass on my thanks to the whole team that made our evening just about perfect.

Lovely english seaside b&b experience. Wonderful views from large balcony. Hamilton Room can be recommended as well appointed and comfortable. Lovely friendly staff who check you have all you need. Wonderful, tasty, full English breakfast. Lunch on arrival was nice to have on the terrace. I can recommend the haddock fish finger and Smoked salmon sandwiches. Great evening meal of hake special too. We will rebook. What a lovely gem of a hotel. Very comfortable

We found the service was poor. ALthough quite a few customers, it was by no means busy. Slow enough for staff to be chatting to each other & not taking notice of their clients. We were given menus ,ordered our drinks. By the time the drinks came we had all ( four of us ) decided on haddock & chips. The drinks were brought to us, I told the waitress we were ready to order she completely ignored us, went to the next table, the couple were obviously regulars, & had already ordered their food. Where she asked how they were, general chit chat.Several waitresses flashed past us, no one asking if we were ready to order. Eventually one did ask, we ordered, within minutes another waitress came & asked us same question. Seemed a bit like the buses all together, or not at all. When our food came out, the batter was well done, & the fish tough. It was definitely overcooked. I didn't want to make a fuss in front of couple we were with, so I ploughed on. I wished I had said something as the further I went the tougher the fish, so much so I couldn't finish it. All four of us agreed it was overcooked, perhaps the oil was too hot? We are not holiday makings, who would never pass this way again. We all live locally. We were not looking for money off. We would have been pleased to have acknowledgement, not just a ' I'll let the chef know. " Some ladies came & sat on the table next to us, all ordered the fish. It came out looking the same as ours. We then heard them say it was a little tough. As both my husband & I have worked in the hospitality industry both here & abroad, we notice all the little things that make a brilliant restaurant or a soso one. Sorry but I cannot give you a gold star on this occasion. Shirley Philpott
