Royal Hotel

Situated on the seafront short walk into the town centre. Many restaurants and pubs nearby. Decent sized rooms and nice breakfast. Dog friendly. Paid parking next door. Old fashioned bathroom with weak shower. Some confusion at the front desk where they tried to make me pay for a pre paid room.

Everything is great. The room is spacious. Food is good.

Nice location on the beach in Deal. Decent sized rooms and ok breakfast. Pay car parking next door. Good water pressure and comfy bed. WiFi did not work well kept dropping out and water in shower was not very hot.

First, the positives. The staff were lovely, polite, and professional throughout our short stay. It is in a great location in the centre of Deal. We paid a premium (£180) to stay in a room with a balcony offering a fantastic sea view. The room we stayed in was called the Nelson. Overall, the room was bright, airy, and clean. We can imagine it's lovely in the summer. But if, like us, you are looking for more than just a sea view, then you will be disappointed. We found the bar and restaurant soulless, with no atmosphere. The wooden table and chairs were tatty and uncomfortable, and the food was average. We appreciate that it is an old building and upkeep of such buildings can be challenging, but in our view, it needs some TLC and a re-think about how they can make the hotel interior more welcoming. It's often the little things that make the difference. A touch of paint here and there, cleaning the bird mess of the balconies and outside areas - See photos. It is also interesting to note there does not appear to be one response from Shepherd Neame to any of the reviews here. That suggests a total lack of respect for their clients. It is very sad.

The staff were lovely, attentive and helpful making our holiday memorable. The room overlooked the beach and was extremely comfortable and i've booked for next year . The breakfast choice was overwhelming and it was lovely eating it facing the sea.

I’m sorry to see disappointed and unhappy reviews on here. Took a friend visiting with us to lunch here. For a seaside restaurant with outside space, a nice welcoming vibe and friendly staff we didn’t choose badly. The waitress was old school and made us chuckle. Don't think I knew her name. Older & curvy & smiley! Just thank you. Food was perfectly executed including warm plates despite them being very, very busy. Food arrived within the allocated time that we had been warned that it would take 30 minutes. Guess what? We had eyes and knew we would but it’s sad that staff have to warn customers in a full restaurant for fear of complaints about waiting when most tables were taken. I had a burger, wife had fish & chips and friend had a smaller dish. We all enjoyed our food. Not amazing but certainly very good. Considering the volume of orders the kitchen were getting through I’d say bravo to them. Second round of drinks brought over promptly. The ladies had desserts and having established I wasn’t driving again I had another beer. We left smiling.

Friday lunch with my friend was once again a great event , the steak burger was to die for , my friends selection was more than ample and delicious . Staff once again friendly and attentive , first class hotel , always coming back service was quick , even with a lot of diners

Worst fish and chips ever and not cheap either at £17.50. The staff didn't add to the experience. Perhaps should have deducted the 10% service charge as it certainly was not worth rewarding. The seaview was nice but the kitchen door banged like a 25 pounder.
