The room was excellent and the staff were very professional. The hotel has a swimming pool and steam room, and the breakfast was incredibly rich and delicious, especially the lamb noodle soup. My only complaint is that the hotel was too hot; I couldn't sleep well at night because the air conditioning only provided heat, not cooling.

Upgraded free to non-smoking. Polite and patient front desk services. Top rated breakfast served with variety of local foods, well selected and prepared. The room was huge and clean with all toiletries provided. The only downside is quite far from the tourist attractions. The traffic was heavy on the working days. But the hotel location is near to the train station Datongnan, about 10mins drive. Very easy to call taxi.

I had booked the Yungang Hotel, but upon check-in, the hotel kindly upgraded us to the adjacent Wyndham Grand Hotel. While I initially appreciated this gesture, after checking in, I found that Wyndham's management left much to be desired. Firstly, upon arrival, I noticed uncleaned water stains on the sink faucet and bathroom light switch. Later that evening, when I used the hairdryer, dust and lint flew up from the floor, indicating that it hadn't been properly cleaned during regular housekeeping. The breakfast experience was particularly dreadful. Wyndham and Yungang shared a combined breakfast service, with food stations set up at opposite ends of the dining area. Crucially, one station offered several more dishes than the other, and the two stations were at least 50 meters apart. If you sat at one end, getting food from the other was too far. Moreover, it was incredibly crowded, and the hotel did not implement any crowd control measures. If you went to get more food, your table would often be taken by someone else when you returned, and the hotel appeared unconcerned about this issue. In conclusion, while Wyndham's newly opened facilities (hardware) are indeed excellent, the 'soft management' (service and operational aspects) clearly needs significant improvement.

For our off-peak self-drive trip, we chose the Yungang Grand Hotel. It's part of a complex that also houses the Wyndham Hotel, with Yungang in Building A and Wyndham in Building B. Both hotels feature essentially the same room layout, offering spacious and well-appointed accommodations. The Yungang Grand Hotel definitely offers slightly better value for money. They share a single breakfast restaurant; during our two-day stay, it didn't feel crowded, though guests might have to wait for a table during peak season. Housekeeping was prompt, and bottled water was replenished generously. Don't miss the newly opened Fenglin Pavilion restaurant on the first floor, on the hotel's east side – it's definitely worth a visit!

While the hardware is truly impressive, the 'soft' services really fall short. **Facilities:** The decor is bright and luxurious, with crystal chandeliers adorning the lobby and rooms. Numerous mirrors are used to create a sense of spaciousness. The rooms are generously sized, and the 1.5-meter wide double beds are very comfortable. **Cleanliness:** Perhaps because the summer holidays had just ended and the room hadn't been occupied for some time, the phone and desk were quite dusty. I had to clean them myself with wet wipes. **Service:** The front desk and in-room service were quite good. Slippers, extra pillows, and drinking water were promptly delivered upon request. When we returned late from the Yungang Grottoes, the front desk kindly extended our check-out time. However, upon arriving at the hotel, as I was taking my luggage out of the taxi, the staff member at the entrance simply stood by, expressionless, watching me. After checking in at the front desk, I asked if my luggage could be sent to my room, only to be told to find a bellhop myself. As one of Datong's premier hotels, the hardware is undeniably grand. However, staying here leaves you with the distinct impression that while its facade is resplendent, the internal service ethos is rather perfunctory, embodying a 'do as little as possible' and 'if it can be ignored, ignore it' mentality.

The hotel is situated in Datong City's new district, right next to the Municipal Government and Government Services Center, making it a prominent local landmark. The hotel's decor and interior facilities can only be described as lavish and grand. From the ubiquitous crystal chandeliers to the jade flooring and the exquisitely adorned Mitsubishi elevators, every detail screams luxury and opulence. Their breakfast selection is one of the most lavish I've ever encountered. Beyond the standard offerings you'd expect at a five-star hotel, they serve a plethora of substantial, signature dishes right from early morning. For instance, there's blanched prawns – incredibly fresh and generously sized – and beef stewed with bean curd sticks, featuring substantial chunks of beef. Plus, local specialties like Datong Guoyourou (fried pork), Gan Zha Wanzi (deep-fried meatballs), and Dusi (shredded pork tripe) are also mainstays, available daily. The hotel also boasts a dedicated spa and bathing center. After a long day of sightseeing, it's truly relaxing to enjoy a soak there before retreating to your room. What's more, they provide a full range of L'Occitane bath products. Conveniently, a branch of the famous Fenglin Court Restaurant is right next door. While the main branch is notorious for long queues, you can usually walk right in and get a table here. The rooms are impeccably clean and feature full smart home automation, allowing you to control everything by voice. Upon arrival, the front desk even provided a complimentary upgrade to a high-floor panoramic room. I'll definitely choose this hotel again if I have the opportunity to visit Datong in the future.

On an off-peak trip after school started, the hotel kindly upgraded our room to a Wyndham Cloud King Room, and everything exceeded our expectations! It's just a 10-odd minute drive from Datong South Station, making transportation very convenient, and parking is free. The hotel boasts a grand and luxurious design with extensive use of stone, giving it an upscale and sophisticated feel. The rooms are also very spacious. The breakfast spread offers a wide variety and is available until 10:30 AM, which is perfect for those who love to sleep in! Practical amenities like a TOTO smart toilet, a huge 85-inch (approx.) TCL TV, a large bathtub, and charging cables were all provided. The slippers and bathrobes were incredibly comfortable too. They provide 8 bottles of drinking water daily, and minibar drinks are complimentary. What's more, the hotel even offers a 24-hour food heating service – absolutely brilliant and incredibly thoughtful! I'm extremely satisfied and have already recommended this hotel to my friends.

I enjoy my stay at Yungang grand hotel. The room is big and clean. But the robot unable to go up to passed the food delivery like how other china hotel. Around 10-15 mins walk, there is alot of food. And 10 mins drive to 大唐大学美食. I would like to give a commendation to our room attendant staff 任美英 during my stay. She have went extra mile to ensure we have a more than comfortable experience in your hotel. Thank you!!!!

Clean, outstanding service, and a superb breakfast—absolutely worth the price! Highly recommend!

This is one of the best hotels I have stayed in. The service at the buffet breakfast was impeccable while the breakfast varieties were acceptable. The service provided by the staff with the employees' tag below was superb during my breakfast. The room is huge, a truly international 5 star quality. Daily cleaning service was great while I didn't manage to get their name, but kudos to their services. All in all, my experience here was great, and I would recommend anyone who stay at this hotel.

The hotel has a sort of baroque style and looks majestic. The swimming pool is wide (I believe around 20/25 m) but it’s a bit too cold for relaxing, good for swimming. Breakfast Room looks very nice, with some tables within pools. The breakfast variety is mainly Chinese and is very crowded considering the huge size of the hotel even early in the morning. Strong cigarette smell in the non-smoking floor hallway. Terrible bathroom design, the see through glass door makes it impossible to use the bathroom when you have guests. The bathtub is facing the entrance door in the open space. Obviously no privacy at all for anyone who what’s to use it. The room is not sound proof and you can hear people talking in the hallway and music from somewhere. There were people having their wedding ceremony here and loud firecrackers sound woke me up very early in the morning.
