Days after my visit I'm still happily reliving memories of a fantastic stay at DGE! I was met at Darwin airport by the hosts, Damian and Shane, and driven to their rural oasis. This service saved me the cost of hiring a car for the duration and I would do the same again. I also availed myself of the full meals option so I could stay on the premises and fully enjoy the place. The queen bed in my room was superbly comfortable. A ceiling fan and air-conditioning were available in the room, however with "winter" temperatures being perfect at this time of year, I slept comfortably au naturel each night. The bathroom and toilet facilities are shared. That said there was never a wait for when I needed to make ablutions. Everything was clean and well provisioned. The recently completed poolside paving is amazing, creating a spacious outdoor area.... like a luxury resort! Set in a wonderfully open bush garden it was relaxing physically and visually. I enjoyed frequent dips in the crystal clear salt water pool and there were numerous seating/slumbering options poolside with sunny or shaded places. The four delightful dogs became best friends and were wonderful company during the morning and afternoon walks around the property. There are interesting termite mounds, a picturesque tree-ringed dam, mango orchards and open grassed areas to explore. Some old farm machinery adds rustic authenticity and historical links to the original property usage. For quiet, relaxing times a hammock strung between palm trees gave the impression, when looking up, of being on a tropical island! Blissful! I started each day with a delicious coffee prepared by the hosts and there was access to tea/coffee throughout the day. A water cooler provided ready access to hydration at all times. The meals, breakfast, lunch and dinner, were all substantial and filling, with the dinners of particular note. Damian prepared the food with the finesse of a trained chef and the finished results were outstanding in presentation and taste! Honestly I could return for the food alone, however in combination with the fact the place is totally clothes free, stunningly beautiful, relaxed and shared with two truly welcoming hosts and their four legged family, the whole experience is one I wish I could enjoy everywhere, everyday! Thankfully there is a place where it exists and I am keen to return for more!
