Good service but the property is tired. No double glazing in my bedroom, drafty. At dinner we were seated by a window, no double glazing and strong cold draft, we moved table. I picked this hotel as I fancied their £60 ph Signature menu, unfortunately they fo not serve it on Sundays. This fact was mentioned on their web site but was buried. It would have been far better to state it on the face of the menu ie “Only available Monday to Saturday” If I had known this I would not have booked the hotel, I would have booked their sister hotel, The Bedford, their menu was more extensive. I booked through ******* at £170, if I had booked direct it would have only been £145

We just returned home from a lovely vacation to Dartmoor, and we decided this time to stay at the Two Bridges Hotel. The hotel itself is tucked away in a perfect spot within the park, giving walking access to the beautiful path to Wistman's Wood, in addition being a good jumping off point to head to several hikes, walks, and tors. Things to note about the hotel: 1) We found prior to our arrival that the website to book was a bit confusing. We specifically wanted a king size bed and we had to call the hotel in order to ensure that our room would have one. I feel it would behoove the establishment to have this listed on the actual booking pages. Even the woman I spoke to said it was a bit confusing when I called. 2) This is not a run of the mill chain hotel. This is a locally owned establishment that has seen many years, and countless generations. It doesn't have modern trimmings like a pool, gym, etc. What it does have is a lovely dining room, and two lounges with big beautiful fireplaces and clocks that are never on the right time. 3) We stayed in room 38 which is on the main level past the kitchens. It was a really nice room, a bit dated, but we didn't mind at all. Mostly, we couldn't get the temperature sorted. If it was on anything higher than 1, you would be sweltering by the middle of the night. In addition, there is a light on that goes off after 11 that is very bright right outside the main window. If you ask, they will turn it off if you go to sleep before then. The room itself had a lovely four poster bed, and a beautiful bathtub. The main two things with the bathroom were the toilet often wouldn't flush, and the water pressure was slow, so you need patience. 4) The food here was lovely. I have celiac disease and I was looked after very well. On our first night, we did the tasting menu, which we thoroughly enjoyed, and did breakfast there each morning and found the options to be delicious. The one thing I will say that for me (the gluten free party) wasn't as good as elsewhere was the gluten free cream tea. My husband had a regular cream tea and said it was delicious. 5) The service here was really lovely. In particular, Jules in the evenings, and Natasha during breakfast. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and look forward to returning in a couple of years!

An excellent overnight stay with friends, cream tea on arrival (fresh home made scones) followed by a great four course evening meal in the characterful restaurant. All staff very professional, friendly and smiling which makes such a refreshing change in today's world. Breakfast following morning after a good night's rest was very good, with full range of freshly cooked to order choices. Thoroughly recommended.

Great location in a picturesque setting. Arrived at the allotted check-in time to be advised that rooms were still being cleaned, so we opted to sit outside taking in the vista enjoying a drink until the room was available. Character hotel with period furniture and an array of old clocks (funny that none of them tell the right time!). Our room was well appointed, comfortable bed, the room was stocked with the usual tea, coffee making facilities. We booked dinner in the restaurant, good menu selection, however there was a large group dining, which seemed to have an effect on service, which was slow. Also, my wife's meal was only luke warm, the management did apologies and made an adjustment to our bill in recognition of the poor service. Setting aside the issues mentioned, we would stay here again.

Very comfy hotel in a great location. The food was excellent and the service very good. Very much enjoyed some wonderful piano playing in the restaurant on Saturday night. We will have no hesitation in returning to Two Bridges Hotel when next visiting Dartmoor.

We stayed in the Chagford Suite for our silver wedding anniversary. It couldn't have been more perfect. Spotlessly clean, amazing staff, excellent choice of food & drinks. And of course the fabulous resident geese. No need for security as these guys rule the grounds!

Total rip off, average scone with butter/jam - they had run out of cream + weak tea for £8.00. Don't bother. Obviously milking the location. can't believe some of the reviews. people must have low expectations, best to go to supermarket and buy there
