This is a lovely property with a great location. We had room 305 with a terrace and good views of the ocean and marina. Many restaurants are within a very walkable distance in the Lantern District. The breakfasts were very nice each morning and there is a happy hour (actually 4-5:30 I think it was) with wines, cheeses and cookies.

Cozy like a Bed and Breakfast with the privacy of a boutique hotel. Calm and relaxed atmosphere. Very clean and a wonderful location! The view of the harbor was spectacular and we could see it all from our private balcony. Even though it was warm enough, we still had the fire going in the fireplace for ambience. Everyone we encountered at The Blue Lantern was so friendly! This was my fourth time to stay there.

The day of my reservation, my daughter woke up with a stomach bug. I called to see if I could move my dates but they said no. I asked the manager if they really wanted a sick child there and was told we could have a mask. While I understand we were well within the non-cancellation window, the customer service was very disappointing. When we arrived my first impression was this must have once been a retirement home. It does not look or feel like a luxury hotel in any capacity. The ladies at the front desk were unfriendly and unhelpful. The whole property is dated, the room and bathroom appeared to be original, the mold in the shower was gross and the sheets and towels were sad. The view could have been a saving grace but the paper thin walls let in the construction noise that started early the next morning right next door. The hotel failed to mention that was happening when they sold me the upgrade. One night was more than enough and I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone.

I have always wanted to stay at a Four Sisters Inn so when i was invited to my best friend's son's wedding in San Clemente I jumped at the chance to stay at the Blue Lantern Inn. It did NOT disappoint. Our room was beautiful. The bed was the most comfortable I have slept in away from home. The food was incredible amazing breakfast every morning, cookies and iced tea in the afternoon and wine and light appetizers at 4 PM each day as well as free tonic all day. Made the whole experience so homey and relaxed. The sitting areas in the sunroom, the lobby, the library and patio are all very comfortable. Every Blue Lantern employee was so friendly and helpful. We were able to walk to dinner at Luciana's which I would highly recommend. Parking was free. I can only hope that we will be able to stay at the Blue Lantern Inn again some day.

This hotel is fantastic. The rooms are quiet and very comfortable. The main road, Pacific Coast Hwy, can be busy but road noise was not an issue. The lobby was small but cozy and with many special touches. Breakfast each morning was high quality and different at least for the 3 days we were there. Views were great but not an easy walk if one wishes to go down to the harbor. We drove down one morning and had no trouble parking. Drinks and appetizers from 4 to 5:30 just another personal nice touch to a very special hotel and stay. We will stay here again.
