My friends and I stayed at Playa Tropical in Currimao, Ilocos Norte for 3 days. The Balinese-inspired design sets a serene tone. Rooms are spacious, beds plush, and the veranda perfect for quiet coffee moments. The infinity pool and beachside restaurant made the experience even more memorable. Truly a relaxing and well-curated escape.

We availed of their day tour rates and paid ₱250 for adults' entrance fee and swimming fee and ₱200 for kids' entrance fee and swimming fee. We were told to go straight to the pool and nothing more. We asked for a beach towel but they told us that is costs ₱100 each. We asked if there's a shower room but they said it's under renovation. The restaurant food prices were steep. Beach wasn't good for swimming. The resort was old and needs a major revamp and ALL THE STAFF were snobbish except for the guards at the gate. They should train their staff to at least be courteous if they can't be kind.

Firstly, I really like this place. The pool is great, rooms spacious and clean. The place is quiet and right on the beach. The food was far better than I expected, especially the "free" breaky. Just a couple of small issues. 1) they heavily sprayed the room with freshener just before we entered, had to air it out. 2) some weird rule that you can't walk on the beach after 7pm. They say for safety. Well it's a public beach but they are very adamant. I felt like a 10 year old being scorned. 3) needs some maintenance, and maybe a sprinkler on the grass. That being said I really liked the place and will come back.

We booked two Royal Suite rooms last October 31 for our December 26 arrival for a 3D2N stay. Upon arrival, we noticed that the reception staff were sort of confused what to do with us as they asked us to sit down and wait for a few minutes. But after we have seen other later-arriving guests being ushered to their rooms, we began to suspect there was something amiss. So we asked what's the problem and we were told that they have overlooked our booking and that there were no more Royal Suite rooms left. After several back and forth between the person in charge and whoever had the decision-making power, we were offered an upgrade of a villa accommodation which was actually a big upgrade because it costs twice the Royal Suite accommodation. However, there was only one such villa available and our other couple had to downgrade to a Deluxe room. Needless to say, they refused the downgrade at first but since there were only a few rooms in the resort, there was really not much alternatives and out friend couple had to accept the downgrade, but not without much protest. To the resort's credit, they also threw in two free dinners for all of us and even our extra person who happened to be our daughter and was a last-minute addition was not charged anything. Kudos to the staff, particularly Princess who was the person in-charge that day for doing the best that she could to rectify the resort's error. As for the review, the resort is nice and has very good potential as a family or smnall group destination. However, since this resort seemed to have started operation in 2009, the villas which I suppose were the first structures built, showed much signs of age and lack of proper maintenance. Some of the things that needed attention in the Fuego Villa were: 1. the closet doors don't stay closed and the door catch needed replacement 2. the safety deposit box locking mechanism is already malfunctioning 3. the bathroom has a his and hers double lavatory but one has its drain plug stuck to closed and therefore unusable 4. the in-room phone has no dial tone 5. the faucet handle in usable lavatory is falling off 6. the door cement threshold in the bathroom leading to the pool appears a later addition but is not painted white as the rest of the walls. 7. Given the price of the villa accommodation, I expected at least a facial tissue supply, a bath gel and one more trash bin. In fairness, the villa is spacious and the pool water was crystal clear. But much of the other amenities like the main pool area could use some upgrades, ie. modern decking. The reception counter walls also showed signs of wear with areas where the blasting has already worn off. The food is good but the breakfast is very basic, ie. Pinoy breakfast type and plated. On our last day, there was a preparation for a Renewal of Vow of some guests and the resort showed signs of disorganization. There was not a single staff to man the breakfast area (at least none at arond 8 AM when we were there) and the

This resort is one of the best in Ilocos Norte. It’s a beautiful place. Great swimming pool that overlooks the sea and you can catch a beautiful sunset whilst in the pool. The beach is great too and just a few steps from the pool. The whole resort is wonderful. There’s a games room if you fancy something else (pool table, ping pong table and foosball table). The room was nice with everything working although could do with a bit of painting and a few fixes but nothing too bad. Bar seemed to close about 9ish as well which isn’t good for a Saturday night but we don’t drink too much anyway. Overall, a perfect getaway. If you’re looking for a beautiful place to go to then go here. Highly recommended.
