Great hotel, there is no pharmacy inside the hotel or in the surrounding area, bring a first aid kit and Doliprane. There are plenty of activities on offer at the hotel and on the beach, a real all-in, but nothing around. The hotel is magnificent, the service is impeccable, the cleanliness, nothing to complain about The city is 30 minutes by car. Taxis are negotiable

Large resort in an isolated position (35 km from the town of Sal Rei) but on a long, white beach. Three swimming pools and free sunbeds also on the beach with the shade of palm trees. Lots of people but just try to avoid the busiest times for lunch and dinner (the food is of medium quality, especially suitable for Nordic customers). Excellent cleanliness and friendliness of the staff.

Some parts of the hotel is a bit dated, no lifts. The staff generally very good and helpful, but I asked for a shower cap on Day 1 and again on Day 4. Agreed to bring but Didn’t get it in our 10 day stay. They could have said that they don’t have them. No body lotion, shower cap, dental kit, etc in rooms. Tge food quality good compared to other All inclusives.

First off, this is not a 5*, we stayed at Rui in Sal two years ago which was fantastic, which is why we booked here. I feel very let down by TUI. On arrival we had a 40 min wait to check in. No air conditioning or arrival drinks. Then when we did eventually get to the check in we were told rooms won’t be ready till 3pm(arrived at 12pm). So left to hang about wasting time. Food is very disappointing, more like Butlins. Flies, birds and cats would regularly be your companion at meal times. We had to change room on 2nd day due to weird smell, open bathroom design so no privacy, no light in the shower or on the balcony so once dark the balcony is pointless. Tv signal terrible. Electricity went on 3rd day and affected the wifi, which never really came back properly. The pool areas look tired with what looks like rust at the bottom of the pools. Pool tiles missing which caused my son to cut his toe. Asked for plaster but no one came with any. Only positive thing I could say is the staff are fantastic, but as usual management screw everything up. Will definitely not be back and will no longer be using TUI. Spend your hard earned money somewhere else.

The hotel is located in beautiful island of Boa Vista, about 25mins drive or taxi. Very easy to get transfer from airport either way (taxi or bus). We were there for 7 nights and even thought weather on beginning wasn’t promising we still got a loads of rays and nice sun baths. Hotel is good for any type of leisure from just lazing around pool or start more active exercise in swimming pool. If you fancy other excursions or trip it’s easy to booked them either with hotel or app or TUi. We booked ours with TUi, catamaran (a bit too many ppl so it could be a bit disappointing) in the middle of the trip we get an option of snorkling or just jump on the boat and go to the beach for approximately 30mins. When we landed on the beach I have spotted old fashioned fort with cannons, which was interesting as if you walk up the hill you can see stunning views and find out a bit more about history of the Island. It was a pretty cool thing to do in my opinion. Secondly we went to do quad bikes 2h trip around the Island - which was good fun and again we could explore a bit more of island. On the arrival we have been given helmets and scarfs and also asked to fill in form with details etc (need driving licence). Very nicely organised experience, with trip to Santa Monica beach where you can see wreck of old cargo ship and take impressive shots of views. Back to hotel there are 5 restaurants on the side, quite a loads to choose from. There is Italian, Asian (most popular and sometimes difficult to book), next door to Asian is another one I think it could be class as a BBQ. Main restaurant has buffet style food and you’ve got plenty to choose from, mix of different cousins so you can scoff your face as much as you desire. There is another restaurant but you can go there only if you staying in the adult section only which we were. Food again very good and surprisingly i have even ate tuna and I am not big fan of fish. Also there is a few bars to choose from, so even though they are busy you still can managed to get your drink quickly. We’ve got some different variations of drinks and the bartenders are very friendly, my favourite was the girl with blond hair on top shame I cannot remember her name as she deserve to be mentioned and be awarded by the hotel for her hard work and very friendly attitude. Another thing we were surprised with was our maid whom made our staying more comfortable and enjoyable. She’s got very good manual skills, should be apprised by hotel as she does a fantastic job - I hope hotel has a progression program for their staff and could help her with studying English and graphic design as she has very impressive set of skills-which would be beneficial to the hotel as well as to the holiday makers. Her name is Nushinka Garcia - well done you make our stay memorable with all your art work. All of all our stay was great and we did enjoy every moment of the island of Boa Vista.

We have just spent 11 nights here first the positives. Staff are wonderful didn't meet 1 miserable one. Spotlessly clean and the food is very nice lots to choose from. Room was spacious with mini fridge stocked with water daily. We were given a 2nd floor room no lift which was supposed to be a partial sea view, I couldn't see the sea. We moved on the 3rd day because my husband was recovering from a chest infection and was struggling we are 63 and 65. We were moved the following day without question to a lovely ground floor overlooking the quiet pool it was probably a more expensive room but we were not asked to pay extra the bell boys even came to move the cases for us. Negatives. They need a wooden walkway for wheelchairs pushchairs and mobility scooters although the hotel itself is very flat you cannot get down to the beach. They have them across the pool though. This place could do with a spruce up especially the pool bar area. The restaurants need fly Zappers. They also could do with a water fountain on the beach as it's a bit of a walk for us older generation going back and forth for drinks. It wouldn't take much as they have irrigation for the palm trees down there. This is a very large hotel so if you are older or less mobile remember to request a central lower floor room.

We had stayed at the Riu Karamboa a couple of times before its refurb and absolutely loved it. We went back after the refurb and its whole soul had gone. We were very disappointed. We spoke to people on our return journey who had stayed at the Touareg and they spoke highly of it so we decided to give it a try because we love Boa Vista so much. What an absolute joy it was. It is an absolute replica of the old Karamboa that we loved so much. Could not fault a thing. Perfect.

We are staying for 2 weeks and this is not what was advertised, it's barely making a 3 star hotel, I've been to other riu hotels and this one is massively under standard. First off no air con at check in you get to stand in a queue for about an hour when you arrive no drinks in 30 degree heat. You then get to your room that stinks of sewerage apparently it's the water treatment, we had to change rooms 4 times as each room had a problem, 7107 very bad smell air con broken, room 5007 the door was broken and couldn't get in stunk of sewerage, 3rd 5227 room didn't smell as bad but air con didn't work and it was on the top floor, they don't have any lifts. We had to pay to get a room upgrade to use the adults only area and get drinks in our room, also you get coffee and tea but no milk in your room, it's also 3 days so far asking for the drinks to be refilled in the room reception keep saying it will be done but doesn't get done also no iron in the room and the tv is poor, if you have a fire stick bring it, the internet here is very poor. Dining is like being in benidorm it's a free for all with flies everywhere on the food, if you are into sea food your OK as its in every restaurant here, other riu's have a steakhouse this one doesn't, all the drinks are own brand no proper drinks, rola cola and that, the spirits are watered down cocktails are a bit rough no proper Baileys or tia Maria only 1 brand of beer as well, if you want a red bull it's 5 euro from the shop, insect repellent is 15 euro from the shop. Think you guys can get the jist of it, out dated and sub quality, you are basically paying for guaranteed 30 degree heat and sun, everything is for the masses not quality
