A great welcome from landlord, Michael as we were walking in. We were just there for an evening drink after a walk on the Quantocks and Michael outlined for us the range of meals and opening hours. We were cordially invited to this year's beer festival to be held at the pub at the weekend, in the spacious pub garden. From previous visits, i remembered the front snug bar, which has a great atmosphere. The Carew Arms is ideal for meals out for families and friends within a 5-mie radius of Crowcombe and is ideal for the holiday maker travelling west on the A358 towards Minehead. It is less than 5 mins off this road.

We stayed here at the weekend whilst attending a wedding at nearby Crowcombe Court. First, The Carew Arms is not The Hilton and some may find the it all a bit shabby but it is a country paub with an atmosphere all its own and should be enjoyed for that. The room was a bit tired but the bed was huge and very comfortable and lashings of hot water for washing and bathing. We had two breakfasts and Sunday roast and the food was very good. All local produce apparently and I can honestly say the full English breakfast was probably one of the best I have ever had. The suasages and bacon were particularly tasty and the eggs an tomatoes fresh and full of flavour. The coffee was good too. As for the Sunday lunch, again, locally sourced meats that were full of flavour and a decent selection of vegetables. High spot - the public bar. It just oozes character without the help of an interior designer and offers a decent selection of beers and ciders. Clearly this is a pub that has a good number of regulars which gives the place a strong local character. So as a hotel perhaps not everyone's cup of tea but we loved it and would gladly return.

Visited this pub and decided to stay for dinner. Lovely pub. Had skittles in one side of the pub. Along with individual stables where dining tables were. We ate in the main dining room. Has a big garden too. The food was lovely I had a steak which was cooked perfectly. Would definitely return.

Run down and grubby room. Broken window panel covered with tape, cobwebs in every corner, bad plumbing, and stains on the curtains. Was not as advertised and the usual £80 per night was upped to £103 which was far too much. Very disappointed.

Not recomended On arrival the outside impresion was poor not clean tatty paint with similar apearance inside.the room booked was an en suite double the room was generally ok.warm decorated ok.no desk or chairs and the bathroom un connected and down the hall ! And very cold with no heater.evening meal average with only just warm soup returning to my room for a rest after working all day i was confronted with a rock group practising below very loudly for 2 hours unaceptable for a £70 + £12 breakfast room.not suprising people ditch these places in favour of premier inns and there type the place needs a refurb in public areas and heating.breakfast was ok.coffee poor restaurant cold.staff dont seem to bother very much

Terrible, do not visit. The room (number 3) was very damp, cold (no heating) , dirty and neglected. The beds weren't made up and the pillows and duvet were a stained yellow. We did not stay as the room was not habitable. We booked in for one night to attend a nearby wedding venue. The idea was to enjoy a drink at the wedding venue and travel home next day after a cosy night at the Carew Arms, but not so. Had to leave wedding early, and not have a drink and drive home. The whole occasion was ruined by the neglect at the Carew Arms.

My family and I have been to the Carew Arms a few times in resent years and have always enjoyed it. It's a lovely old pub and you can feel the history of the place, its a bit run down in place its true but they are making changes and doing a bit of work on it, it also has a lovely outside garden for the summertime. The staff are always lovely and attentive adding to the overall good vibes of the place. Last Sunday we went for lunch and it was so good I decided a review was needed. Three of us had the roast beef, which were excellent, very good portion size and the vegetables were cooked perfectly, quiet often with the vegetables at pubs especially on a Sunday they are over cooked to the point you can't really tell what they are, but not so here. Great cauliflower cheese, carrots that still had some bite, potatoes and parsnips has a lovely colour on them and were delicious. Shout out to the creative vegetarian choices as well, the Butternut Squash and Beetroot Wellington was inspired and the Roasted Mediterranean Tart was also fabulous. Now we come to the main event, the puddings! I really do not have enough words to truly convey just how amazing the chocolate brownie was, rich dark chocolate, with white chocolate chunks, perfectly gooey without being runny and the perfect crispy top. Just Perfect. The Apple crumbles likewise were incredibly good but my heart forever more belongs to the brownie and I stand by the title of this review.
