Very dissatisfied with our stay. We did not have the opportunity to enjoy the amenities or our stay with our baseball family due to the overall uncleanliness of the hotel.

We stayed at the Wyndham Garden Cross Lanes in Charleston for a stay-and-play baseball tournament. It was one of the few hotels with availability left when our coach sent the list, and it looked great online—clean, modern, and convenient. We were genuinely excited. A few days before the trip, another parent came across some shockingly bad reviews. We figured they might be exaggerated and decided to stick with our reservation, while other families switched hotels. Unfortunately, the reviews turned out to be pretty accurate. While we didn’t have bedbugs (as some reviews mentioned), the hallways reeked, and our room had a strange, unpleasant odor. The bathroom was in poor condition—the toilet was barely attached and held up with exposed shims, wobbling every time it was used. The bathtub was rusting, and we were told rooms wouldn’t be cleaned unless we stayed more than three nights. We stayed exactly three and were thankful it wasn’t longer. When we asked for towels at the front desk, we were told the person in front of us had gotten the last ones. Garbage sat in the hallways for hours, and the side door entry codes didn’t work—the doors were just left open at all times, which felt unsafe. The free breakfast was terrible, and the pool was the worst part - despite looking adorable at first sight, algae was literally floating in the water. It was hands-down the dirtiest hotel pool I’ve ever seen. The staff seemed overwhelmed and unpleasant, though I imagine being fully booked didn’t help. That said, the beds and pillows were surprisingly comfortable, which was the one bright spot. We honestly contemplated leaving and finding a room elsewhere, but because it was a busy tournament weekend, we didn’t have other options. We’ve never written a bad hotel review before, but this experience warranted it. If you're considering this hotel—especially with kids—do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else.

This hotel needs attention from the parent company. The people are friendly and most of the issues are issues that should be fixed in a remodel by the corporate company. We were there for a baseball tournament and needed to do uniform laundry. The laundry room didn't work. The phone in our room had a broken plug and you had to wiggle it just right to get it to work. The lamp as well was loose and had to be plugged in just right to work. The tiles in the bathroom were old and cracked. The carpet needs replacing in the rooms and hallways. It wouldn't hurt to add an elevator in the middle of the middle somewhere either when doing the remodel. Some of the rooms on the first floor had mold growing in the bathroom. With that said, the stay was not great but not horrible. The cleaning crew needs to do a better job with washing sheets and sweeping the floors. We had one bed that we needed to get sheets for because the fitted sheet was dirty and a pillowcase was stained. However, the hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating. There was only one person working the desk and I had to get the sheets from the desk but they were there and ready within minutes of calling. The boys enjoyed the pool area, pool tables, and played ball in the parking lot. The breakfast was not great. The eggs were good but the gravy was way too runny and tasted watery. I probably would not choose to stary here again. However, there are not lots of choices in the area. The corporate company needs to spend some time and money on this hotel and they would definitely be a place to stay.

This is our second time at this hotel. The hotel main areas were significantly cleaner this go round; the rooms are still dated and need a thorough deep clean though. The staff was incredible. Honestly made the stay. Breakfast was awesome. The front desk ladies were all kind and helpful, 10/10 for service. Main issue is that the pool area is UNGODLY HOT. It’s built like a glass greenhouse and it felt like a sauna. The indoor pool itself was kind of gross and looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in awhile either. We were traveling with like 14 kids total so the pool was key. But miserable to sit in there with them

Room keys didn't work so after going to the desk 3 times the staff came to the room, opened the door with a physical key and said have a good night. The outdoor pool isn't functional. Free breakfast is a joke IF YOU CAN GET NEAR IT. The ice machines and laundry were all out of order. The soda machines with 4 choices were all sold out.

Right when we got there the hall smelled like smoke. Our room smelled like smoke and it was stuffy. There was a necklace on the window and a sunflower seed. The light in the bathroom half worked. We asked to go to the 2nd floor because it didn't smell as bad like smoke. That room was not clean. The bathroom toilet had poop all over inside. I asked the night front desk lady for someone to clean it but no one ever came to clean it. I asked again and still no one came and she wasn't even nice enough to come clean it. I use to work at a hotel and clean bathrooms and if someone needed something after the housekeepers left I would have done it. You need to keep the guests happy and a unclean toilet/bathroom is gross! The room looked better than downstairs, but the toilet paper roll holder was broken and the fan was falling off the wall and the door lock didn't work. It didn't help that the toilet was poopy and the sink was not clean either and ants all over the room. All night I smelled smoke. Not good for my kids, and especially not good for me since I'm pregnant. It would help if you got new carpet and hired workers who did not smoke. Another thing to fix is the pool outside. It's green and a disappointment. The inside pool is ok but to warm, and the tiles are falling off and there is a drain in the deep end with no cover. Someone could jump in the pool and hurt there foot. The pool chairs are worn out and need replaced. Breakfast was ok. The breakfast seats are a bit low though even for adults. Please fix your hotel and stop the smoking it's gross and makes people want to leave and never come back. Why do you have no smoking signs with the workers do not even listen to them. Yuck! Also clean the rooms well!

Stay was ok. Pool area was the nicest part of the hotel. Bar and grille area dated, food filled the void, but that was about it. Staff was friendly enough. Cleanliness was not the best. Stains on the carpets, and just some things that needed to be wiped down, like doors, handles, tables. It was okay for an overnight stop.
