Clearly once a landmark building, with lots of rooms, plenty of public space, and a garden area. The building is now very tired - decor and maintenance - and housekeeping leaves something to be desired. I raised a cleaning issue which was dealt with ASAP, but surrounding areas needed attention. Breakfast is good - buffet style, decent bacon and free range eggs on offer. For the price we paid (inflated for August Bank Holiday weekend, we considered this poor value. Needs major investment, potential is there to make it landmark again.

We had booked a three night break, B&B at the Lion Hotel. Our room was on the second floor and we had a good view of the castle and the sea beyond. The buffet breakfast was excellent - a wide choice of hot and cold items. All were fresh and tasty and were restocked right up to the end of service time. Staff, particularly in the restaurant, was lovely. There is a small car park at the hotel, but also plenty of free, roadside parking.

Stayed here as part of a package with Wales Golf holidays when playing Abersoch and Port Madog Golf courses. The hotel was popular with other golfing groups. Great hotel. Friendly staff, good choice for evening dinner and great Breakfast. Rooms are clean. I would definitely stay here again.

Awful state of the room. Hadn't been properly cleaned in years. Thick dust on everything including the kettle and sticky surfaces. Old sticky sweets on the floor between the bed and side table. Very Tired furniture and fittings. Breakfast was lovely, staff were very friendly and complete contrast to the state of the room

We had a stay here earlier this week and can absolutely recommend it. They saved us after a disappointment at a different accommodation. The service at The Lion was excellent, rooms spot on, great ambience and perfect garden to enjoy a drink and breakfast was . Diolch yn fawr iawn

We have just visited The White Lion, it used to be a firm favourite on our annual visit to Criccieth. On viewing the menu which is sadly now only bar snacks we ordered Burger with chips and a steak sandwich with chips. The food arrived in a reasonable time and looked very nice, the burger was good but unfortunately the steak in the sandwich was very gristley, half of it was inedible. We spoke to the staff regarding the matter and we were met with a poor apology.

The staff were all very pleasant and friendly. Lovely relaxed feel about the place. The room was spacious and clean. Really nice shower and lovely fluffy towels. We stayed for 3 nights and have to say I couldn't have managed another night as the bed was very uncomfortable and really creaky! Breakfast was adequate but food wasn't particularly hot. We only had one evening meal there as it was a very limited menu but it was only a very short walk to the main high street and found alternative places to eat.

Arrived for Sunday lunch, had requested a high chair, couldn’t find one. Eventually it turned up. 4 adults ordered roast dinner, no stuffing as advertised, 2 tiny potatoes, not sure what they were seasoned with but were inedible. Vegetables could have been frozen, presentation was awful. Gravy no flavour whatsoever. Asked for water, received a jug with tepid water in, when ice was requested we were rationed to 2 cubes. Also, requested an extra Yorkshire pudding for our friends toddler, advised we could have one as somebody else didn’t want theirs on another table? Surely there’s enough to go round, as walk-ins are welcome. The waiter was very abrupt, definitely needs to polish up on his customer service skills. All in all a very disappointing experience we will not be repeating.

This hotel has been recently purchased by a new owner so my experiences are related to the policies and procedures handed over at the transfer. The first surprise was that the hotel insisted on full payment upon arrival - no prior warning. The room wasn't serviced daily this had to be requested. Tea, coffee, milk and toilet rolls had to be requested from Reception and you were given them in a brown paper bag. Evening meals were only available in the bar (not very salubrious) from a very short menu that had a predominance of chicken. We were told that the bar/'cafe' was open until 9pm every day Arrived about 8pm on Sunday and told that the kitchen had closed at 6pm - no notices in the hotel about this but when challenged the duty manager said that we should have looked at their website. But even the barman seemed unaware that the kitchen had closed he took our orders and had to apologise later.
