Oceanfront Lodge

The beds are comfortable and the oceanfront location provides stunning views, creating a perfect setting for a relaxing stay. However, no disadvantages were mentioned in the reviews.

Even though we booked in early March, we were shocked when we came to check in at the Oceanfront Lodge (over three months later) to find out that our reservation had mysteriously been canceled - by the owner! Apparently, because we recently received our updated credit card, the card that the hotel had on file was declined - and there was no notification of any issue by phone or email. Nor were we given the chance to use our current card at check-in. We arrived with confirmation in hand and no contact from the hotel that any issue had occurred. Their policy is to charge upon arrival - so we couldn’t understand why they would cancel without notification in advance of our arrival. The young employees at the reception desk told us there was nothing they could do, that the manager/owner was on vacation and that there were other hotels in Crescent City since theirs was fully booked. So it was too bad, so sad for us. We were given the owner/manager's "personal" cell phone number and a message was left, but has not yet been returned. Because we were traveling with another family whose reservation (placed at the same time as ours) wasn’t canceled, we ended up cramming six people into a four person room. To add insult to injury, the hotel charged us $60 for two rollaway beds. The hotel is in dire need of updates - holes in the bedding, the ice "bowl" looks like an empty margarine container, spotty wi-fi, dusty, cracked lampshades and a dirty vent in the bathroom. We don’t recommend using the coffee maker as it lives next to the toilet. Good luck if you want to chance staying here.

Poor management and dirty. Great view and location. It could be so nice but needs much tax. I wish the owners cared. No restaurants no bar filthy. There was supposed to be breakfast but no cook. Had to pay for coffee even though the restaurant was closed. Everything was filthy.
