Motel 6 Cranbrook, BC

The bed was actually good. The bathroom could be better cleaned like the ceiling had some kind of residue on it. Other than that decent budget hotel.

Clean, nice attitude from staff, convenient location. The township has some creepy people. Recommend it to stay before entering USA, close to border crossing

Very functional room.

The room did not have queen beds they were either Full or Doubles. This makes it very crowded. AC unit was very loud even when not running.

For unknown to me reason I was switched to one queen from 2 queen beds and no discount was offered. The room is small. Bed was clean. Bathtub old, rundown condition. Dirty hair dryer, dust on the tiles in the bathroom and the cubbies for towels.

Horrible experience from the owner/operator. On Feb 23 I called motel 6 cranbrook directly to make 2 reservations to accommodate flights departing and returning from the cranbrook airport. During this call, I inquired about a seniors discount or government employee rate and was advised I would receive the seniors rate and was given my quoted amount. I advised the owner that the return flight was arriving at 1230AM and with deplaning, baggage, and driving into town, check-in would likely be between 1-130AM and I asked if that would be a problem. I was told no, not a problem. I asked for an email confirmation of the reservstion and was told he didn't do that. On March 5 check in was fine. I spoke to a nice lady at the desk and I again inquired about the 130AM check in time. The young lady confirmed my check in date and said the check in time was not a problem but recommended I call the day of to remind the motel of the arrival. I paid for the room at the cost I was quoted when I finalized the reservation back in February. Upon arrival back into Canada, but still another flight away from the final destination of Cranbrook, I called motel 6 as was recommended to me of the 130AM check-in time. The owner answered the phone and sounded confused by the reminder. I repeated my name and that I was recommended calling to remind the motel of the 130AM check in. The owner said something I didn't understand so asked he repeat it. He said "ring the bell" which I took to mean ring the bell at the desk when we arrive. I said okay and the call ended. 130AM arrival at Motel 6 Cranbrook. The office light is on and the sign says open but when I go to the office door it's locked. I look around and see a doorbell which I press. A minute later I press it again when the owner comes out. He opens the door a crack and asks what I want. I give him my name and say we have a reservation and I was the one who phoned him earlier to remind him. He walks away. I stand outside wondering what to do and when I see him go behind the desk I open the office door and step inside. A few moments later he tells me the room charge, which is more expensive than what he first told me the price was and was more than when we checked in on March 5th. I tell him the price he quoted me formtodays reservation. He says no. I relay our Feb 23rd phone call and the seniors discount. He denies the call happened. I tell him I can show him the March 5th receipt. He says I'm not to argue with him. I try to explain and he states that my reservation is for a different day. I try to tell him I confirmed with both him and the other lady my dates were confirmed correct and I had asked him to email a confirmation when I made the reservation back in February but he said no. He tells me to pay the price or get out. He tells me again im not to argue with him and he says "130 AM!!" over and over. I end up being forced to pay the higher price.
