Suites Turquesa

Solo trip. First time staying here and I’m so happy I did. So much so that I’m returning at the end of July and bringing a friend! First, it’s located about a 15 min walk north of the hustle and bustle of downtown San Miguel. I opted for a scooter rental for most of my trip. Not that you can’t walk it, but I’d rather not in the heat. There is however, a lighted pathway to get you to downtown if you choose to. One thing to keep in mind.. the condo doesn’t have an elevator so if you have any mobility issues, opt for a bottom floor if it’s available. I arrived and had no problems checking in. My luggage were carried to my third-floor room for a small tip. The room was a partial ocean view with two small balconies. There aren’t any decorations on the wall or otherwise which couldn’t hurt, but I could live with that. There is a separate living room area with a tv and daybed, a kitchen with full-size refrigerator, a hot plate for cooking, small coffee maker, microwave cooking utensils, plates, cups etc and a five gallon water dispenser. The bedroom has a large closet, and a king size bed. I have read other reviews that the bed is hard as it’s on a cement platform but I didn’t think it was was. Pillows were very comfortable. The bathroom shower could use better water pressure for sure but I didn’t have any issues with hot water. There is a separate bathroom vanity area which is perfect. It was nice to be able to jump on the scooter and head to Chedraui for groceries and for the most part only eat out for dinners. Now for the BEST part..the outdoor areas! The pool was beautiful situated overlooking the ocean and a sandy beach area with chairs and umbrellas. Pool is cleaned in the morning so it’s sparkling. A few pool toys but I’ll pack a small float next time.There is a fresh water shower to rinse off and bathrooms just inside the lobby. There are two ladders on either side of the beach area that go down into the beautiful ocean. Awesome snorkeling reef with lots of fish and the occasional stingray, lion fish and a resident morey eel. You can really snorkel for as far as you want in either direction to check out neighboring properties. The sunsets are beautiful and I watched the pirate ship go by every night which was cool. The place was very quiet during the day as most people are out and about. In the evenings it was nice to have conversations with other guests. There weren’t any kids (Yay!) and the crowd is older. Most guests, including myself are divers. Having the scooter made it really convenient to get to the dive boat at Puerto Abrigo Marina. Less than 5-minute scooter ride. Aldora Resort is right next door if you would rather scuba dive with Aldora Divers. The manager Julie was very nice and accessible through WhatsApp. I’m not sure about the other review that said otherwise, but she was a nice woman and I appreciated her. Beautiful water front & new renovations This is a beautiful waterfront boutique hotel with lots of potential. The condo was very clean with fresh paint and furnishings. The saltwater pool was beautiful and so refreshing after a long days of snorkeling and walking around town. The property was kept clean and neat with someone continually sweeping, raking or picking up. A few negatives: Lots of construction noise which we were warned about as they are remodeling half of the property. Workers were respectful and you could tell tried to be as quiet as possible. The view of the ocean even on the bottom floor is breathtaking!! The first room we checked into had very strong perfume smells which would be pleasant to a normal person but I am super sensitive to chemicals. They quickly moved us to another room which was nice. One big negative was they had no comfortable place to sit. The couch was a hard twin mattress with a metal edge that left your legs falling asleep. The other chair was a hard wooden one that left my back in pain. Patio chairs were a little better so we brought one inside a few times. After lots of walking, swimming, snorkeling a comfy place to sit is essential. This was our second place to stay on the island this trip. We had so much fun in Cozumel we extended our trip and ended up at this condo. It's very close to a few beach clubs with great people food and snorkeling right in front of the hotel or beach clubs.
