I really wanted to love this place after seeing the website and reading about it. Then we stayed there. It is wildly overpriced for a tiny room with no amenities. When we first checked in, they tried to give us a room that looked out on the vent fan from the kitchen, which smelled like grease and was very loud. We paid an extra $30 to move across the hall to a room with a water view, which was nice. But the rooms are so small that once you open your suitcase, there is no room to even walk around without tripping. No place to sit other than the bed (there was a wooden bench against the wall). Common areas are dark and uninviting, the wifi was unstable, and the water pressure was weak. I would not go back and feel like we wasted our money. There is a fine line between quaint and broken down, and this place leans to the latter. No breakfast, so we left early so that we could breathe and have something to eat.

My daughter, son in law and I enjoyed a peaceful and relaxing two night stay at Captain Whidbey Inn. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The rooms were comfortable and clean. The food and drinks were excellent. Great place to read and breathe. I plan to return!

Let me start with the positive - the island is beautiful and the hotel does have a nice camping vibe. On to the negative: - Value for money. This hotel is EXTREMELY overpriced. However, I knew this when I booked it and didn't mind at the time because this was an anniversary trip. I booked four months in advance however by the time we checked in the price had decreased by 200 dollars. When we called two weeks before to see if we could cancel and rebook or at least get some voucher, we were given a lecture. Hard to see the value in something when it could easily be discounted $200. Moral of the story - do not prebook. Hotel Staff - After this phone call, I still tried to have a positive experience. However, starting with the check in, we felt that the staff was unhelpful and rude at times. We had our IDs checked multiple times throughout the same dinner and although we were given drink vouchers with the cost of our room, the servers seemed confused why we were trying to use them. When we asked the front desk about the fire pits which we could clearly see people using, the woman at the desk was confused what we were talking about. I could go on but I think you get the idea. In summation, if you have an extra 500 dollars to throw away, be my guest however I personally had a negative experience and would not recommend. And if you do go - do NOT prebook months in advance.

First time visitor to Washington and could not have found a better place to visit/stay. The Inn, built in 1907, has so much character. A casual feel with exceptional service. The views are awesome! The location is situated for easy access all around the island. A must stay for first time visitors or those looking to getaway for a weekend adventure.

We stayed in a lagoon room. Our room did not have any bolsters on the daybed, so the only place to sit in the room was effectively on the kingbed, which is wierldly low to the ground. There is a wooden bench, which is fine for putting your luggage on it but would be cruel to expect someone to relax upon it. I would suggest they change out the daybeds for a sofabed. There was no fridge in the room despite the nor throw blanket on the bed, altho the pretty pictures indicated there might be. I can't speak to the quality of the food, we were unable to eat dinner saturday or sunday brunch as we had no reservation, and a full breakfast was not available on monday morning, although they did have a small takeout coffee bar with limited number of items. The setting is wonderful and want to relax with a book in the outdoor chairs this is the perfect spot.

for wonderful dining and accommodations Captain Whidbey is a wonderful getaway from the big city but still close. I consider it a deal vs a trip oversees to see what people pay big bucks for and this is in our backyard from the Seattle area.

We returned to the CWI 42 years after our first date there. At that time, we stayed in a fully-furnished cottage by the lagoon. Now these cottages have been replace by Scandinavian style condos, rooms are quite sparse, without chairs or drawers. However, the king bed was one of the most comfortable beds we've ever slept on! The restaurant has an unusual menu, so be sure to ask about the dishes before ordering. Also, no green salad on the menu, but the kitchen made a beautiful one for me when I asked. Service is marvelous.
