As we drove South towards Moulins I was telling our friends what a lovely hotel Hotel Le Chalet Montegut was in a lovely location with a fabulous kitchen. Little did I know that the adjoining restaurant is a shadow of itself. There is no official chef so premade jars of very salty food are heated in a microwave. Absolutely the most disappointing meal I have ever had in 50 years of travelling to France. And very expensive too. I would avoid this hotel (if it survives) until the problems of the restaurant are resolved.

Endroit digne d’un relais du silence. Calme absolu et un endroit en pleine nature pour les amoureux de campagne, verdure. Un accueil extrêmement sympathique, un grand bravo à tout le personnel que ce soit l’accueil à la réception jusqu’aux services du petite déjeuner, restaurant le soir avec les recommandations de Omer, nous avons adoré et nous reviendrons car Moulins est notre destination deux fois par an. Nos amis ont été informés pour venir aussi chez vous. L’hôtel est charmant avec ses chambres personnalisées qui donne une atmosphère de maison de famille. Le parc, la piscine et le lac apportent des lieux pour se détendre. Le restaurant propose de très bons plats sous forme de traiteur au choix végétarien et spécialité française. La terrasse du restaurant donne sur la piscine et au loin un aperçu sur le lac, dans l’ombre des grands arbres. Beaucoup de romantisme. Nous recommandons à tous de découvrir cette pépite tout près de Moulins. Merci de votre accueil et de nous avoir reçu comme des rois.

Emplacement (notre GPS n'a pas reconnu l'adresse) de rêve, au vert et au calme. Maintes opportunités d'être logé y compris avec des enfants. Découverte d'une cuisine à la mesure du Chalet. Un tout grand MERCI et BRAVO à la jeune employée, modèle d'adaptation, d'efficacité et de gentillesse, seule pour nous réceptionner et nous servir le dîner.

I stayed at the Chalet Montegut with my family. The location is very nice and secluded and from the outside the hotel looks very pleasant. However, the quality of the hotel and its rooms are very poor and in need of renovation. Our bathroom needed repair and the walls between the rooms were paper thin, meaning we could hear our neighbours. We were located in the annex and there was no WIFI, it only seems to work in the main hotel. The breakfast was mediocre at best with no warm food and certainly not worth the 15 euros. We had booked on the last minute based on the fact they had a pool, which the receptionist confirmed at the time of the booking. However, on arrival she had failed to say that the pool was not open yet for the season! I raised this with the female director and she had zero interest in me or my complaint. I would describe this as more of a youth hostel style accommodation but at hotel prices. The restaurant on site was quite good but it took quite some time to get served.

Literie très bien par contre il manquait des lattes de parquets dans notre chambre. Piscine qui avait tourné pas pus se baigner.c est dommage que cela soit pas bien entretenu car le cadre et l établissement en lui même est jolie.l accueil peux mieux faire.

Do not go here Restaurant shut No WiFi Tiny shed of a cabin Rude receptionist €300 deposit Pay extra for breakfast Not enough lighting to find the chalet No dishwasher No washing facilities for clothes, no hanging area. Jeeeeez the list goes on and on!!!

Wir haben in den letzten Jahren schon einige Male hier übernachtet und das Hotel in guter Erinnerung. Das Hotel ist immer noch ok. Allerdings hat sich das angeschlossene Restaurant drastisch verschlechtert… Von dem ursprünglich guten Essen ist nichts mehr übrig geblieben… Jetzt gibt Vor- Haupt- und Nachspeisen aus Gläsern und auch der (überteuerte) Preis hierfür steht in keinem Verhältnis. Auf die Frage, ob es wenigstens ein Käseangebot zum Nachtisch gäbe ernteten wir von dem offensichtlich überforderten Keller nur ein Achselzucken… Das Frühstück am nächsten Morgen im Hotel war übrigens wie gewohnt gut…

An absolute scam, false advertising as the rooms are nothing like shown. I wouldn’t even call it a one star hotel. Our room had exposed wires in the ceiling, missing floor and a toilet our 10 year old couldn’t even fit in. I tried to speak to a manager twice but never available. I felt sorry for the staff as they obviously knew how bad it was when I spoke to them. The hotel even has condescending posters up around the building about what to do if you have a complaint. Restaurant food is cooked off site and served in glass jars where it has been warmed up. Avoid at all costs and don’t be deceived by photos that are not accurate.
