The Crown Hotel

Positive - the bedroom and bathroom were clean Negative - all the windows in the property are filthy, and really dusty, making the property feel dirty overall. The communal area, by reception, smells stale. It would not take much time or money to improve everything, by just giving it a really good clean.

Hotel was in a good location, very clean and the breakfast included is a nice touch!

We were put in a bedroom built into the attic, with very low, sharp edged, sawn timber beams and a toilet with a ceiling so low, I was unable to stand up to urinate, (I am a man)! The beams need some padding on the sharp edges, so that when you get up in the middle of the night, you won't hurt yourself if you bump into them. The room was overlooking the main A5 trunk road and therefore very noisy all day and night. Breakfast was OK, although the booking said continental breakfast and English breakfast but only a Continental was available.

An old world pub. Full of charm and character. We’d upgrade our room next time. Ours was a little small.

My experience of a visit to this “Hotel” was really poor. We booked earlier in the year as we were attending the Eisteddfod in Llangollen but you can imagine our disappointment when we found that there was no hot food available either in the evening or at breakfast. I really don’t consider that a hotel. Our room was up three flights of stairs and the window was facing onto the A5 road with traffic pounding by throughout the night. As for the room and bathroom, one could hardly swing a cat round. However, everything was perfectly clean. The only saving grace was the lovely receptionist who greeted us when we arrived and offered to carry our luggage upstairs.. In order not to struggle up and down the steep stairs and bang our heads, we found it easier to exit the building from the second floor via the fire escape!

Lovely clean bright bedrooms. Ideal if you have kids as rooms are ajoining with a fridge and microwave. Manageress in particular was very friendly.

The outside of the building is completely different to inside! Inside the hotel is fantastic. The rooms are clean, spacious and very comfortable. Host can not do enough for you. Breakfast was fresh and lots of choice. Good to have car parking on site. But if full there is a free car park further along the road.
