Coronado Island Marriott Resort & Spa

As Marriott Lifetime Elite members, we’ve treasured the Marriott Coronado for years, drawn to its prime location near the Ferry Landing’s shops and restaurants, with a pool perfectly positioned for stunning views of the Coronado Bridge and downtown San Diego. The flamingos on the grounds were still pretty, a small highlight of our visit. Sadly, our recent stay was a major letdown, marking a steep decline from the property we once loved.Upon check-in, our room was musty with a noticeably unclean carpet and hair on the bathroom sink. We requested a room change, but a conference left no rooms available. The staff, still accommodating, offered a deodorizer, but it didn’t help. The furniture was torn, the grounds were poorly maintained, and the elevators desperately need upkeep—far below Marriott’s standards. To top it off, a $50 resort fee, plus $47 for self-parking or $55 for valet, feels excessive for this experience.We’ve been loyal Marriott fans for 30 years, but this property’s condition is shocking. What happened to the Marriott Coronado we adored? Until improvements are made, we can’t recommend staying here.

Great hotel within walking distance of restaurants and a grocery store. It's across the bay from the main part of San Diego, though, so if you want to go to downtown you will have to take the water taxi or a taxi. I really loved the location and getting a taxi was not difficult. Beautiful location, and a really nice property. Will stay here again.
