This is the first review for any type of holiday accommodation we have ever written. But our stay at the Chevalier Noir has warranted a change. Our host, Paul, was the most generous and welcoming person and instinctively knew when to advise us get the most from this most delightful area. We honestly feel that we have made a new friend. Breakfasts were slow leisurely affairs and nothing was too much trouble. We also enjoyed 2 evening meals freshly prepared by Paul. Slow roast lamb eaten with other guests and a bbq on our own. Bring your own wine and vegetarian options available. Well done, Paul, you made a much needed break very special. We will return. Bob and Bobby

This was our first holiday abroad as a family and we couldn’t have asked for anything more idyllic and wonderful. From first contact with Paul at Le Chevalier Noir, to our stay, the whole booking was so welcoming and professional with excellent communication. We arrived at LCN after a stop off in Blois, recommended by Paul (perfect pit stop on a road trip through France.) We stayed as a family of five for the week in the gite. With a warm welcome from Paul and easy parking, we immediately felt at home. The gite, with its blue shuttered windows, pretty terraces and the pool below, surrounded by breathtaking views of the surrounding French countryside was a little slice of heaven. So much space to relax and with the warm weather we enjoyed fun pool sessions. Paul recommended many local amenities and trips which were perfectly suited to us and our children. Including a fabulous yoga class for me, a wonderful local tea room and micro brewery in the town. Cordes itself has everything to offer, French cafes, historical surroundings including a little train that tours the medieval town, artisan shops, beautiful gardens, peace and quiet. A short drive away takes you to the beautiful ‘green beach’ on the river ticking the beach box for our children. We also took a little self drive boat on a short river cruise about 30mins away, both different and fun. French Breakfasts and supper at LCN are perfect, unhurried and delicious with locally sourced produce. Paul is the most sensitive and caring host we have ever come across. We very quickly felt like locals and not visitors thanks to him and without a doubt made a dear friend. We can’t wait return to meet Daniel too and enjoy all LCN and the area haven’t offer. Book without hesitation, you won’t be disappointed!

Had a fabulous stay here. The setting is really beautiful and the pool very welcome with the heat. Comfortable rooms with crisp linens. The hosting was excellent and Paul made sure we got the breakfast we wanted each morning with plenty of fresh choices and good coffee. We also opted for one of his lovely meals. Paul went over and above when I spilt a whole cup of coffee on my white jeans and shirt - he came to the rescue and laundered them back to normal - very grateful thanks!

We had a wonderful overnight stay on our journey to Spain and couldn’t have asked for a warmer welcome. The half board option was perfect for us — especially with our own private chef, Freya, who prepared absolutely delicious meals. The bed was very comfortable, ensuring a restful night, and our two small dogs were made to feel just as welcome as we were. Parking was easy with a street permit provided, and the location in a beautiful hilltop village made us wish we had more time to explore. Host Paul was incredibly friendly and accommodating — truly a lovely person who made us feel right at home. We’ll definitely return for a longer stay next time so we can soak up more of the charm this place has to offer! Highly recommended.

We had the most fantastic week. Paul went out of his way to make us feel welcome. He helped us to plan and joined us for cycling and canoeing activities which were great fun. He helped us finding routes for walks with wonderful views and one morning took us to the most fabulous viewpoint to see the morning mist rising above Cordes. We stayed in the Gite which we loved as it has its own patio and terraced garden and we were able to sip wine and watch the sun go down over the valley. The Gite had a large lounge , a fitted kitchen with washing machine and dishwasher, a generous bathroom and 2 lovely bedrooms with comfortable beds.. we couldn’t wait for breakfast in the mornings.. fresh bread , fruit, yoghurt , croissants , cheese, hams.. so much choice.. we loved our french omelettes and all of that sat outside overlooking the valley. Our in house evening dining( prepared by Freya when we stayed) was absolutely delicious and Paul and Freya were great company, I really can’t recommend le chevalier noir highly enough. A five star experience, we will be back

We had a wonderful stay at Le Chevalier Noir. The property was spotless, check-in instructions were crystal clear, and the space offered complete privacy with breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. Paul is an exceptional host who went above and beyond from the moment we arrived - helping with luggage, serving delicious breakfast each morning, providing excellent restaurant recommendations and hidden vista points, and even making our dinner reservations. This is exactly what a 5-star experience looks like. We can't recommend this property highly enough and will definitely be back. Thanks for everything, Paul!

love staying at Le Chevalier Noir. Paul is an excellent host (I’m sure Daniel is too but we haven’t met him yet). The rooms are great, the beds are incredibly comfortable and if you’re lucky enough to get one of the rooms that look over the valley you’ll probably just sit and look at the view all day. Paul’s breakfasts are also fabulous. He makes an early trip to the local Boulangerie which makes delicious croissants, pain au chocolat and bread including a loaf of the best GF bread I’ve ever tasted. There are also fresh local eggs laid and made to order 😊 and fresh coffee, hot chocolate and tea. The village, of course, is also well worth a lengthy stroll after breakfast to work it off. Paul also has great local restaurant recommendations and has made all of our reservations for us and also has plenty of knowledge on the local villages you have to visit. I believe he also organises bike tours of the area. Can’t recommend Le Chevalier Noir enough.
