Woolpack Inn

The staff were all helpful and efficient. Bar food was tasty and quickly delivered.

Very welcoming cosy inn for family We had a really lovely stay. The food was very nice. There is so much to do at the Woolpack. They have lots of games such as darts and pool. It is incredibly homely. We visited in the winter and we were made very welcome.

Woolpack wellwoolwouldnt you. X Excellent service at our 4th stay. Foods brilliant and theres alway good beer and gins etc at the log fire heated bars. Room was warm and bed really nice. Hot shower was also good with its downpour in a jungle type fittings. Room2, right by the stairs but not at all noisy. Weather was wintery but its winter... wasdale is a great place and just round the corner. Avoid langdale pass, the tarmac is appalling potholed and none existent in places, i know it like the back of.my.hand. wrynose was still fab though and at 5pm on valentine's day.. there was no other traffic.

We booked 3 nights in the spa room, with breakfast and supper included. We also got a packed lunch on one day. We later found out this was the last weekend they were open until later in January, and in fact we were the only guests on our last night. We were still made to feel welcome, and the service was proactive. This is an excellent location for walks, and the hotel caters to walkers/hikers. The room was cosy, warm and comfortable, yes, a little tired, but quiet, good bed, large TV, everything works. We slept very well. The jacuzzi bath was very welcome after a cold wet day tramping around the Hardknott Roman fort and pass; the only regret is that we couldn't see anything out of the roof window because of the cloud cover. On a clear night, this would be spectacular. Breakfast offered a good range of meals, and the evening meals were also very tasty. The mutton chili sounded a bit strange, but was fantastic--not too spicy, flavourful, and a healthy portion size. The only downside of food is that the packed lunch (sandwich, biscuit, fruit) felt a little overpriced, especially after we realised (the next day) that we hadn't been given any fruit. However, we didn't want to fuss around packing in our own food, and there's nowhere else to buy sandwiches.

I stayed at Woolpack while doing circular walk around the Lakes with my 11 year old son. Having had a hideous walk in the wind and rain from Torver to Eskdale over the Old Man we were delighted to get to Woolpack and were given a warm welcome on our arrival. Given its location it’s very much a walkers pub and is well geared up for walkers arriving west through with a drying room and no judgement on muddy boots, etc. The room was quite tatty and in need of some TLC however the bathroom was more like the standard of a high end boutique hotel! It was lovely and very welcomed given we were cold and wet. The pub was great with lovely local beer and great atmosphere, 100% authentic and what a good Lakeland pub should be. We had wood fired pizza as the main meals had stopped as we had arrived late and it was very nice. A highlight was undoubtedly the breakfast which was delicious and again more akin to a higher end hotel - lovely local ingredients beautifully presented. The real highlight was the slightly eccentric chap that looked after us and offered a true example of great hospitality! We would 100% stay again.
