Pros- Great location. Had clean beds. Easy booking and check in. Decent sized bathrooms and it looks like this was a good hotel back in the 70’s. The sound of running water is a good white noise when we opened up our window as there is no airconditioning. Cons- There was leftover food from a previous stay in our fridge. Bundled up hair in the floor. But the worst part is it’s was noisy. We were already tired from a long trip, We were already sleeping and somehow @ 11-1130, there was loud walking and banging of drawers up above our room. Same is true at the side of our room as well. We were all awakened by the noise/s. Like giants walking and doing random things. Stairs were creaking and it just ruined our rest.

This is a very very tired hotel in desperate need of attention, I’m sure in its heyday it was lovely . Our room must have sustained water damage as the ceiling by the window had partially collapsed and was held up by a piece of wood the skirting board had fallen off the wall . Various lights didn’t work so it was dark and gloomy . One plus the coffee in the lobby was nice

Stayed there several times in the early 2000s and everything was fine. Now it is like something that one might find in rural India, which appears to be the new owners are striving for, so they can feel at home. At age 80, and traveling on business most of my career, I have stayed in lots of hotels, but this one sets a new bottom level. Staff are downright surly, unfriendly, indifferent, uncaring and whatever other descriptor might apply. This is reflected in the maintenance, or lack thereof. The main issue is filth, filth, filth. OK in India, I suppose. Across the street, the Elkhorn Lodge, where I have stayed many times in my 32 trips to the area, is at the other end of the scale. Rustic, but super clean, owners Lisa and Jeff Ohlinger could not be more outstanding. The only issue is that they don't have more rooms.

In years past this was a decent hotel. However, today it is terrible, dirty, surly staff. Filthy carpets. It needs a complete overhaul.

Convenient place to stay in Cooke city. It’s off season so most of the town is shut down. Nice to have a place to enjoy a meal and beer
