Stayed one night, arriving Wednesday 3 July 2024. Second time we've stayed here. We had a four poster room overlooking Melville Square -- in fact same room we'd had on first visit. Very comfortable bed. Big bathroom with lashings of hot water. Two very minor quibbles. Only a continental breakfast available on this visit, as opposed to cooked that was available in March. Secondly, we noted that a wee bit more attention was needed by cleaning staff as we found a fair amount of dust in some parts of room -- headboard, light fittings, for example. However, still happy to give a 5, and would be happy to stay again.

Stayed here 2 nights in twin room. I can highly recommend it as an affordable and comfortable 'country house' experience. Really liked the style of the public areas. Generally felt well run. Only continental breakfast on offer which was absolutely fine by me, and, though modest, it was one of the better British continental breakfasts that I've had. Good dinner. Nice beer garden too.

Dined in the pub. £17.50 for one piece of fish and a skimpy portion of *possible* supermarket fries. Rip off. A few months ago you got two pieces of fish, a large portion of REAL chips, and peas. Quality has drastically gone down hill, yet prices haven’t changed one bit. Fish was great, but very sad to see another business trying to squeeze every last penny out of you. Won’t be coming back until prices reflect the quality of food. I strongly recommend dining elsewhere, there are plenty of options in Comrie. Your £ will go MUCH further. Such a shame to see a once quality pub, go down the route of jacking up prices and reducing quality.

Had a beautiful meal, very well cooked and presented, waitress friendly but over sharing about the other staff. Part of order were two fillet steaks and catch of the day (hake) While accepting £34 is the going rate for fillet, £28 for hake is way over the top (price not displayed) Steak served was sirloin which you would expect to be somewhat cheaper than fillet. It wasn’t, it was charged at the same price and when this was questioned on receiving the bill, the ‘friendliness’ of the waitress disappeared and the person paying the bill was ignored and passed to a colleague to take payment from. Rude and a blatant extortion of more money than one should pay for sirloin or hake. Buyer beware.

Went to the bar for a 'bar supper'. Normally we'd have a couple of mains and a large glass of house red each. This time we added a sweet. Bill came to over £80. Just too much for what is essentially a nice bar supper. Alas it's going to impact on us going again, a specially as we are regular visitors to comrie. We'll go to the Deils Caldron just up the road the cost us similar but the food experience much better as it's a 'proper' restaurant. Sorry Royal but your quality price ratio is very uncompetitive considering the competition.

Booked for dinner with my wife and my friend, stood at the bar like 3 spares for ages until eventually served, once we got seated all looked fine with nice table setting and seating, we had to wait a while to get served but the food came out quickly. My fish was just amazing however the chips where dripping in oil and my wife’s steak pie was just dreadful, totally tasteless, to be honest it even looked tasteless, the cheeseboard was just great and my chum had the crème brûlée and he thought this was heaven. So it’s a mixed review, the Royal is just lovely but the food is definitely hit and miss, a hotel like this should have kick ass fish and chips and steak pie to die for but this was a very kind 5/10. So much so that we did not stay for drinks or coffees so the poor performance cost them probably £50 in drinks.

A friend had given us a gift voucher for this hotel. We stayed two night arriving Wednesday 13 March 2024. We stayed in Room One, a four poster bed room. We absolutely loved it. Clean, warm, tidy, comfortable, spacious. Big bathroom with lashings of hot water for the comfortable bath. The room looked out over the square and onward to the bridge over the River Earn. Staff friendly and approachable. Excellent breakfast. We also ate in the restaurant on our second night. This was free as our booking had been moved, with our consent, by one night. Even if we'd fully paid for everything, this was an easy 5. One tiny quibble. A slightly bigger TV might suit Room One, but then again we didn't spend much time watching TV.

Booked a last minute getaway for myself and husband. We don't live far away and have driven past the Hotel often but had never managed to stop or go in. Arrived and was greeted at reception by a lovely gentlman who was friendly and most helpful. Check in was quick and easy, and our table reservation for dinner was confirmed, and we were accomodated with a change to the area we had booked. Shown to our room (Room 11) at the top of the building. The room was nice and created a lovely cosy feel. The room was decorated with nice period older furniture which suited both the room and the hotel. A little more attention to dusting areas such as the lamps & table the TV was on would be good, and we did have a couple of lightbulbs that didn't work. In fairness, we didn't mention as there were plenty of other lights in the room, so wasn't an issue for us. There was water in both the kettle and the coffee machine which should have been emptied inbetween guests - this does make you think how often is the coffee machine maintained/cleaned. The selection of teas, coffees and everthing else on the tray was good quality and plenty of it. The bathroom was spacious, looked clean, but is most definitely due a refurb! The grout in the tiles was stained and dirty, the paintwork peeling, and the area around the velux window was heavily water stained either by previous leak or condensation as there was no means of heat in the bathroom. The main areas of the Hotel are lovely. The reception through to the dining room is a good mixture of old and modern but flows perfectly. The Bar area within the main hotel has a lovely atmosphere. The fire was lit, although no-one maintained it whilst we were in the bar and the fire was going out. The library room is a lovely room and so nicely decorated we wanted to spend time in it, but none of the fire's were lit and it was too cold. No-one was sitting in there and I suspect for the same reason. We ate in the Melville which had a different feel to the main hotel but again, was light, airy and welcoming. There was only one member of staff behind the bar managing everything from drinks orders, meal orders, serving meals etc....but he did this really well and was polite and courteous throughout. The food was good, as was breakfast. All of the team in the Hotel we encountered couldn't be nicer from reception, bar, evening meal and breakfast team. The jewel in the crown was Jolene. What a star! She went above and beyond accomodating us. Summary Great hotel with a lovely team of staff and with a few tweeks and upgrades where required would make this perfect. Would definitely stay again
