Hyatt Place Colorado Springs Downtown

Enjoyed a couple of nights at the Hyatt. We found the hotel to be comfortable, clean, and in a great location. The rooms were a good size and well-appointed. We were walking distance to good restaurants and near to Pike's Peak and the Garden of the Gods. The breakfast was standard Hyatt Place fare, o.k. but the menu and quality to use a refresh.

This hotel is very basic and overpriced. You can do better. It doesn’t even have a real entrance/lobby. Everything about it is as basic as can be. You know how some hotels leave bottles of water for you? Well here there are not even plastic cups . Nope you drink from the sink with your hand. The beds are way way too soft. No support at all. No plugs. Nothing. Then there’s our arrival. We arrived at 11pm and there was a bum sleeping in the “entrance” which is just a door to an elevator. The hotel had promised us a crib for our baby not once but twice: first when we made the reservation, then again when we called to confirm earlier the day of our arrival. Well guess what? No crib. What were we supposed to do at 11pm? My wife and baby are here “sleeping” on the floor. You’d be better off at a roadside hotel.

Room and Hotel was clean and smelled so good. Air conditioning worked flawlessly and kept us cool. Maid service every day was so nice as this has not been the norm for some places that I've stayed. Elevator was fast! Breakfast was very good.

Unfortunately our stay was less than ideal this time around. Typically I am not one to complain because I understand that things happen unexpectedly & it is not always the fault of the hotel staff. We experienced a plumbing issue (not caused by us-it was actually water pouring in from the floor above us into our bathroom through a light). We were woken up in the middle of the night by the sound of the water, like a shower running lightly. There was water all over the toilet lid, running down onto the floor. Upon closer inspection there was a water ring around the light fixture in the ceiling indicating a plumbing issue above. We reported the leak to the front desk staff who then asked us if we wanted another room, which seemed like an obvious question, not to mention a safety hazard. Apparently there were no other double queen rooms available so we were offered a single king room. Fine, not a huge deal. We were given the new key & that was the last we heard. The issue was never acknowledged by management, there was no follow up regarding the quality of our stay & we were never offered any sort of discount or anything other compensation for the inconvenience. Again, I am not typically one to ask for anything but I did not feel like a valued customer. That was our second stay at a Hyatt hotel during that trip, so the experience was a little disappointing. I would still consider staying at another Hyatt hotel in the future, but this was definitely not one of our better stays.

Clean room, friendly service. Extremely accommodating to late check-in due to flight delays. Very easy checkout process.

Visiting the area for the 1st time with our family. The hotel was centrally located and provided on site parking. Check in was very efficient. Our room was clean and spacious with a decent view of the mountains. The morning breakfast provided many choices and was very good. Definitely recommend this hotel if visiting Colorado Springs!
