Had a horrible experience at Shalimar Hotel. The service staff are extremely unprofessional — they lack basic manners and courtesy when dealing with guests. The attitude is dismissive, and they show no interest in helping with even the simplest requests. What stood out most was the behavior of the security/receptionist — an older man, likely in his late 50s, usually dressed in a white shirt and black pants. He was incredibly rude, lacked any sense of customer service, and spoke in a disrespectful tone. For someone who is the first point of contact at a hotel, his conduct was completely unacceptable. Overall, the place is poorly managed with zero regard for guest experience. I do not recommend this hotel for any reason.

This is an old looking hotel situated in Panchikawattha facing the main road. Easily accessible from public transport. Rooms are small and compact. But clean and tidy. AC room for two provided for 7,500 LKR. Only provided Pillows, soap and a Towel as amenities. If you keep the doors or windows open for few seconds a hundreds of mosquitoes will enter. So always keep them shut. They have their own restaurant at ground floor. The man who is at the reception is nice and speaks English. The room boys only understand Tamil. The intercom did not work so had to call the reception as out call.

La gentillesse de mr harrington n efface pas la vétusté de cet hôtel au demeurant dans une tres belle bâtisse :il y a du potentiel.
La réception est ouverte H24 et ce monsieur ne se repose jamais :il facilite votre séjour.
Pour le petit déjeuner inclus il n'y a pas de choix comme proposé puisque les 2 breakfast sont identiques et toujours servis de la même façon. Pas question de demander un peu plus de boisson chaude

Okay to stay for one night if you want to be close to the railway station. But otherwise not a pleasant area. Very noisy road. The room was clean but could use some paint. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good. Air conditioning was good.

Does not reflect what is advertised. Poor lighting. TV channels had to be paid to get activated. AC was a disaster. The sheets and mattresses not satisfactory. Definitely not a 3 star hotel. More like a travel lodge.

The hotel is located in a noisy and unsafe area. The building is old, needs renovation, the rooms have a musty smell. Initially, the staff seemed friendly and welcoming. I arrived at night and was upgraded to a superior room, promised that the price would remain the same as indicated on Booking, and offered to cooperate directly, bypassing the platform. However, the next day the situation changed. Another manager came and said that the room rate was three times higher than the price on Booking, citing a "platform error". All previous agreements were ignored, the smiling manager who met me stood silently and it was clear that he understood what was happening, but alas, he could not do anything, I was put in a negative light, as if I was trying to avoid paying. Having paid the full cost of the room for a day, I left. I do not know a single reason why you should choose this hotel. By the way, there is no food in the restaurant either. I got the feeling that I became a victim of a well-thought-out fraudulent scheme. I felt deceived.
