Really really enjoyed our stay at the Black Cat and would stay here again and recommend to others looking for something that’s not a standard hotel and hotel room. When searching I found a 2008 newspaper article and was intrigued and am happy to say despite that article being 17 years old, this place is still here and offering a warm welcome, great stay with amazing coffee and breakfast. We landed by plane at 0500 and host was totally ok with me booking room the night before at arriving at 0600 in time for a shower and nap before breakfast. Neighbourhood is nice and there’s a late night ice cream shop nearby too. Bed in room 3 super comfy, aircon and shower both good. Getting around was easy by Uber taking either auto or car. We stayed 3 nights and would happily stay again. Thanks so much.

Liked the location and room but then nightmare afterwards.. Spotted more than 5 cockroaches in my room late at night… and one even fall to my head when i prepared to go to bed. There were no one around that can help even i have whatsapp called the number provided as the emergency contact. Spent time in the midnight to kill these disguisting creatures and contact Airbnb to deal with the situation should not be the expectation. I paid similar price as 4 stars hotel in town for the stay so i think better do a hotel the next time The cafe manager was helpful, understanding and apologetic but the owner didnt even reply my messages or apologise at all after receiving my photos and message on whatsapp.

We came to the Black Cat Colombo for breakfast. The food and coffee were delicious. We had cappuccinos, shasuka and omelette. The decor and music was great too, really set a lovely atmosphere. Also in a good location to walk to some of the main sightseeing points in Colombo. Would defo recommend a stop there for breakfast or lunch!

We came here for lunch , the staff were friendly however the service extremely slow ! We had to wait over 10 mins for cutlery which meant our lunch was getting even colder . Menu didn’t have the choice seen in other cafes like cafe Kumbuk or the seed cafe . There was a nice laid back vibe in the main area

Unlike many cafes in the city that often serve predominantly frothy milk in the guise of cappuccinos or lattes, BlackCat ensures a perfect balance. Beyond its remarkable coffee, BlackCat boasts a captivating food menu with delectable offerings. The staff is not only attentive but also courteous and helpful, creating a welcoming atmosphere. Drawing a diverse crowd of locals, expats, and tourists, the cafe has, in our assessment, achieved perfection in every aspect. A notable factor is the owner's consistent presence and active involvement, leading from the front—a crucial element for boutique cafes.

Black Cat has very cute and comfortable rooms. The cafe has good food, breakfast was included. The place was very centrally located. The staff and the owner were all super nice and hospitable. They ensured I had a good stay. Will stay here again.

The finest location in the heart of Colombo. During our brief stay, we experienced a remarkably serene atmosphere complemented by delightful jazz music. Notably, the staff, with a special mention to Roy for his exceptional support, exhibited remarkable friendliness. Furthermore, the coffee and cuisine were truly exceptional. We are certainly planning to stay there for bed and breakfast on our next visit.

This is a charming old Colombo 5 house that has been converted into a Bed and Breakfast. I've only used the cafe, it was convenient afternoon workspot. The wifi was strong and the staff was friendly, they let you work for a while. Both the coffee, and the range of fresh juices were excellent. As was the Chilli Cheese Toast. When the weather is nice, I'd recommend sitting out in the verandah as well. Unspoilt and much better than the more glitzy cafes down the road

I’ve stayed in some of the most expensive hotels in Colombo but the cool cafe with rooms is undoubtedly my favourite. Great food and laid back atmosphere of the cafe- breakfasts are outstanding, super friendly and helpful staff. Great location and clean comfortable rooms - just the best in Colombo
