The location is perfect. Just 5 minutes walk from the Hauptbahnhof. You can buy for 10 € a wonderful buffet breakfast. For lunch and dinner they have good meals. The rooms are very safe with single beds on the ground (not station beds to climb up). Bathroom shower is big and good. Best place to stay in Cologne Central for little money.

I didn't have time to read the reviews when I booked the itinerary. When I was free, I saw the reviews and couldn't cancel. It was a waste of money. I can't stay. I really don't dare to stay with such bad reviews. There are pictures and the truth. In addition, the hotel you paid to book is close to the Cologne Church and the central train station, making life convenient! Ctrip really puts a lot of thought into selecting merchants, yet they dare to use it even with such poor reviews!

Basically it is very close to the station, it only takes less than five minutes to walk, the price is affordable, and there is an elevator, so people with large luggage don’t have to worry.
But it was a pity that when I checked in, there were a lot of students checking in, and because the receptionist was not there 24 hours a day, those students started running loudly in the corridor after 11 o'clock in the evening. In the room, we listened to music loudly, drank, ate, and chatted. In addition, the room itself did not have any soundproofing. We were actually staying in a double room, but there was a shared dorm next to it, so it was very noisy.

Friends who plan to stay in this hotel, please read my message.
This hotel is designed like a youth hostel, and the door on each floor is opened with a key. But…………
At night, someone would use towels to block the door so that others could come in and out, so strangers kept appearing on the floor. They probably booked a bed, and after getting the key, they used towels to block the door to let other accomplices come in to take a shower and eat!
We lived on the first floor, which was very scary! First of all, it is a public restroom. There is a large window in the restroom that is open. When you look out, you will see a platform. The window is large enough to allow someone to climb in, so we found a street sleeper eating instant noodles in the restroom. and constant coughing.
Then I found that the door was blocked with towels, and people suspected of sleeping on the street or *********** kept coming in and out of your floor. When I walked to the back of the floor, I found an escape exit, but the door to that exit was also open!
I really don’t recommend you to try it, especially female friends! It feels very dangerous.
But I have to say that the boss is very friendly and the location is very convenient.

I was travelling through Germany because it’s suppose to be safe but, as a female traveller, I did not feel safe in this Hostel at all. First of all the rooms and the toilets stink, the woman at the reception was so rude, she did not want to help me with recommendations around the city and didn’t even bother with explaining the rules of the hostel. The room I was staying in was so dingy and there was this strange woman sleeping there who I’m assuming had been staying there for a while. Her side of the dorm was very messy, stinky and she would scroll through her phone at odd hours of the night because of which I could barely sleep. In fact she would sleep all day and would stare at me when she was awake. I couldn’t wait to get out there fast enough, I was so scared for my safety that I booked an early morning Uber even though it’s only a 5 mins walk but, I was terrified to walk by myself when it’s still dark. The common area isn’t very accessible so, it’s difficult to meet other travellers. Just save your money and skip it.

Without doubt the worst place I have ever stayed in my life, would not recommend this accommodation to any person or animal, room was filthy, toilet wasn’t even as clean as that. Came home covered in bug bites. Avoid this place at all costs, simply horrible stay

Sadly I had a terrible experience at the Station Hostel. I booked 3 months in advance for a private room for a 2 night midweek stay during my trip to Germany. The location is absolutely fantastic, just minutes from the main station. Check in was friendly and efficient and I was pleasantly surprised when I got to my room. Super clean, the bed was extremely comfortable, nice big windows allowing plenty of light. Small desk and a lovely compact small toilet and shower. Bedding, towels and toiletries were provided and a modest €1 is charged per extra towel if you need more than one. The common areas on the ground floor are lovely and the bar / restaurant is cosy and very welcoming. This could have been such a pleasant experience. It wasn’t the hotel that ruined it, it was the groups of teens staying in the rooms around me. I had room 409. Rooms 410,411 and 412 had students in them who partied and misbehaved until well after 4am. I got absolutely no sleep for doors slamming, furniture being thrown about, shouting, swearing, screaming, running and fighting in the hall ways, banging on walls….. it was absolutely AWFUL. They behaved like animals with total disrespect for any other guests trying to sleep. Sadly the staff leave at midnight and so there isn’t anyone there to deal with noise complaints and people can simply behave as they wish. I left to go about my day the next day but felt tired and came back to try and have a nap in the afternoon, however the party had started again and I brought it to the attention of the young man on reception. He told me he would talk to them, but it made little difference and the torture continued. I had no option but to check out and try to find somewhere else to stay for the night. Given that there was a convention on in Cologne this week, trying to find anything in the city for less than €170 per night was near impossible, but I couldn’t bear to spend another night there without sleep. The young man on reception was apologetic and kindly refunded one night of my stay as a gesture of good will. It was appreciated and not at all the fault of the hotel, but the total disrespect shown by this group of guests ruined my stay and cost them a future customer. This kind of behaviour should not be tolerated and I’d always imagined there was a mutual level of respect in hostels, especially as people share rooms. Clearly not in this case. If you want to rest at any point during your travels, I’d only advise on this hostel as an absolute last resort. I cannot fault the cleanliness of the room. Nor can I fault the staff, they’re lovely, but the guests staying in the 3 rooms next to me absolutely ruined my trip. A total disappointment.

Basic hostel, cheap and cheerful ! I went here with a few mates when we went round Germany. Cheap and clean, loved the barstaff, Louise and Paulo? Lovely people and really down to earth. Other people who stayed were friendly too, would recommend if you're travelling on a budget

As a female solo traveller I felt extremely unsafe and uncomfortable. I paid for one night and never stayed, I left at 10:30pm and went to a hotel nearby. I was first out in a room with older and very strange people who had food all over their beds and floors as though they live there full time. The smell was horrendous and I knew I couldn't sleep in there. I asked for another room thinking I got unlucky. I was then transferred to a room with 3 older men in there 50s and 60s who were walking around with only underpants and then fully undressing in front of me. They were not reading books or minding their own business, just staring at me while I made my bed. As I went to leave, one of them followed me and asked where I was going, if I was leaving, and when I'd be back. He was strangely invested in my quick return bit was odd. There should be a healthy mix of women and men, and travellers want to stay with like-minded travellers, not homeless people and creepy old men! I lost 30 euros at this place. Just avoid it!

The only redeeming quality is proximity to the main train station and the Cathedral. The price is reasonable, affordable for our group of 9 college students. Rooms are tiny and spartan, community bathrooms unsanitary, and one student’s metal bed broke while she was sleeping. Guests were loud and suspect. I will never stay there again.

Staff are nice and it's cheap. But everything is just horrible. Beds are uncomfortable, and a lot of the people staying where plain weird and creepy that even I as a male absolutely hated it. There were people straight-up living in the rooms for multiple months and treated it like their private room which made it so much worse. Facilities are minimal and are not great condition. I did not feel comfortable sleeping here at all and on my second night only got a single hour of sleep. I asked to move room at midnight on the first night, but the room I was moved to was not much better and I didn't want to have to ask yet again. Most definitely not a 'backpackers' hostel and most certainly not one I'd ever recommend.

As a young solo female traveller, I felt very unsafe in this hostel. There was no option to book a female room, and on my second night I was placed in a room with five other men, a few of whom were older men, and no other women. I was extremely uncomfortable and felt very vulnerable, and one of them fully undressed in front of me. I asked to switch rooms, which was done easily. However, when I tried to tell the receptionist that in my many months travelling this has never happened to me, and that it’s very important to make the rooms safe for women, he was cold and dismissive. He told me that it’s not possible to make sure that the rooms have more than one woman in them. This seems absurd considering how easy it was for him to switch me to another room. I think that this hostel is just not prepared to make a small effort to make women feel safe because this is not a priority for them. If you are a solo female traveller, do not go to this hostel.
