We were 4/12 hours into our trip when the rep called to say they overbooked and had no room for us despite our reservation. She stated she’d call another room to check their availability and call us back. That did not happen and when we attempted to call back no one answered the phone. It’s midnight and we were on our own to find another hotel that has openings. Unacceptable customer service!

I just left a similar review on google. I am here for a work conference and am appalled this hotel is staying open during the level of construction they are under. The entire floor from the lobby to the guest rooms has construction cardboard and construction carpet duct taped down and I almost fell trying to hoist my bag up over a lip of it. There a big construction buckets filled with dirty water lined up with caution tape making a “path” to where you can walk. My room has construction dust and a view down to a mountain of construction debris including a ripped out bathtub below my window. Vending machine/ice area is filled with construction workers stuff and piles of their work gear. I cannot believe they are taking people’s money for these room. Awful.

Stayed at the Hilton Garden State College for my son’s graduation from Penn State. Well located for a stay near the University. Good value for the price. Room was large and clean. Restaurant was convenient. Check in/out process was convenient. Staff was friendly and helpful.

The hallways were obstructed by workers and their equipment making it unsafe and inconvenient. Should have opened a banquet room to substitute for the lobby.

I stayed overnight at the Hilton Garden Inn, planning to pick up my son from Penn State the following day for the Christmas break. The hotel was beginning to undergo renovations, so unfortunately, the pool and gym areas weren't open. However, I was impressed by the friendliness of the staff and their prompt response to an issue I had in my room. The heat setting in my room couldn't be turned down, so they immediately moved me to another room, and comped me for breakfast the next morning. I had dinner at the Mercato restaurant the evening of my stay. The food was very good, and I was impressed by the wine selection. Additional touches such as a hot cocoa station and festive decorations throughout the lobby turned a mundane overnight trip into something much more enjoyable. I've stayed at other hotels in the area for past visits to State College, but from now on, I'll be staying at this particular Hilton.

Great location! Great personnel! Room very nice!
Despite the “advertised” construction/renovations warning on their website was still nice. HOWEVER, this location was specifically chosen for their featured and PICTURED INDOOR POOL AND HOT TUB ON THEIR WEBSITE for a special 50th birthday celebration getaway! Much to my HORRIBLE DISCOVERY when we got to the pool area there was NO HOT TUB TO BE FOUND!! I was given an apology and that was it! No one offered to find us another location that did have what we expected, WHAT WAS ADVERTISED. I think if they went through all the trouble of making the change on their website to show there were renovations being done surely they could have updated the pictures and descriptions so that the new pool area did NOT show the hot tub!

I suggested to the front desk agente to inform her manager that at the moment we did the reservation it was not inform that the hotel was in construction, notification was received after we did the payment. Instead of acknowledging, she refuted that the only area under construction was the lobby and that sahould not affect us

Hotel was fine. They advised me of renovations going on in the lobby.
At check-in make sure you ask for upper level floor.
