It was a good hotel

Very clean

I stayed at Cambria Hotel College Park for 7 nights for a conference. I booked early and paid for an extra night to check in right after a 32-hour journey. Unfortunately, the experience was frustrating from start to finish. Before arrival, I emailed several times to confirm my late check-in—no response. I even had the conference organizers call the hotel because my card hadn’t been charged and I was worried my booking would be canceled. At check-in, the front desk agent didn’t greet me, just asked for ID and a credit card. For 30 minutes, he claimed my card was being “voided” and refused to try a different machine. I explained I always get bank alerts and had received none—meaning the issue was theirs, not my bank’s. They told me to call my bank internationally, which I couldn’t do, and later admitted the hotel phone couldn’t make international calls anyway. Only after I insisted did they try another card reader—and it worked. No one told me housekeeping was by request only, so I returned to an unclean room. Later cleanings were inconsistent, and supplies weren’t restocked. Two days before checkout, a $50 charge appeared on my card. I wasn’t informed and had to make an international call to find out the hotel had forgotten to charge incidentals earlier. Charging a guest’s card without consent is unacceptable. Staff couldn’t provide receipts or explain charges. I asked daily to speak to a manager, but was told the manager didn’t share a schedule and never followed up. Other guests also reported billing issues and double charges. The hotel is poorly managed and staff aren’t trained to resolve problems. Only positives: the bed was comfortable, and the AC was strong. But for the price, this hotel is not worth it. I will not return—and I won’t stay at any Choice Hotel again.

Rooms are clean, spacious and close to UMD. King room has safe and refrigerator. Large very nice lobby area and new restaurant with bar now open in hotel. Plenty of parking (for a fee). Very nice workout room. Excellent choice in College Park.

Great Hotel Cute and modern hotel in a convenient location. The bathroom is very snazzy with Bluetooth enabled mirrors. The staff at the front desk were primarily absent and unenthusiastic to be there, but they’re probably college kids. There’s a restaurant on site that we didn’t get to try, but the drinks were nice.

Place seemed nice but little things were just wrong. The ac stopped working had to move rooms. Ice machines were broke on several levels.
