Good choice of overnight stop on the two moors way. You have to leave the two moors path to get here and we found the rights of way to the pub were a little overgrown. When we arrived the inn was closed but they leave the keys to your room clearly marked in the entrance hall. A brilliant idea that set the tone for a very good stop over.

We stopped at the pub for the first time for a lunch . Lovely looking place bar maid was pleasant. We ordered our food a steak and ale pie and a ploughman’s lunch . We were told that the pie takes a while to cook would be 30-40 minutes which was not a problem. When the food finally arrived we were disappointed my husband’s ploughman’s lunch was tiny and definitely not value for money . My pie was nothing fantastic, we can make better at home . Would not return or recommend.

We enjoyed our stay at the New Inn. Mark was welcoming on arrival, our room was an executive triple room, it was equipped with what we needed, the beds were very comfortable. We ate in the restaurant and the food was great. We sampled the local Sandford Orchards cider which was scrumptious! Breakfast was very tasty too.

Stayed here whilst walking the Two Moors Way Walk. It's a bit off the trail and requires an extra mile or so to reach it, which is quite hard. But the pub is very nice, well appointed clean rooms comfy beds. Delicious food well served. Excellent Bteakfast set us on our way.

Excellent meal, home made , chips were a proper colour. Sticky toffee pudding was the best ever. Landlord an affable man, enjoyed the lunch there. Will go again. Good selection of beers. Old public house, typical Devon pub. Tables and general cleanliness was excellent. The live parrot was an attraction, he has been in the pub for many years. No problem. Over cast day on our visit, the pub has an outdoors seating area which would be nice in the sunshine.

Don’t hesitate to stay here. The best thing I can say is that it is exactly what I was hoping it would be. Perfect location, great bar and food, friendly locals and great staff. Room had everything I needed and the bed was very comfortable. Also, very quiet! Highly recommended!

We adore this please and keeping returning! We adore this place and we've stayed so many times now that it feels like a home away from home. The very old thatched inn (dating from 1370) is absolutely beautiful and set in a gorgeous and tiny Devon village. The food is always freshly cooked and excellent, including the breakfasts, and the couple who run it are so welcoming. Of course the main attraction is the 41 year old and very chatty parrot, Captain! What's not to love??
