The rooms were clean and smelled lovely. The staff were helpful, friendly and polite. Great location. The breakfast was the best I have had at a premier inn. Breakfasts can be hit and miss and I don't normally choose to eat on site but this time the chef was on form. Great selection and well cooked. Nice garden seating area at the back of the restaurant.

The room, at a higher class, was unpleasantly smelly as it was treated by some chemicals leaving a mothball-like smell. We had to air the room but every time we left the smell came back. This made us worried what we were inhaling over the night! There was no-one at the reception, and we had to leave the hotel to join timed plans. Overall - very disappointing stay.

Good. Info about car parking discount in the NCP are in reception and are needed before you enter the car park. Had to pay full price unfortunately.

Welcoming team on the reception desk. An easy check-in process and a comfy nights sleep. Quiet hotel not disturbed by road noise. Some light was let into the room under the door but did not disturb my sleep. Overall very good.

Stayed in 2 rooms with my Wife and 90 year old Mother in law. Myself and my Wife were on the ground floor in room 12, Mother in law room 108 on first floor. The receptionist was in helpful and said she could not move us all to rooms next to each other as the hotel was full. She also took pleasure in refusing the £249 in cash which my mother in law offered for payment of her room on the grounds that she could not produce photo id.I wanted to pay card and cash which was also refused. I ended up paying cash with NY driving licence but was short-changed as they didn't have the coins for the balance they owed me. The breakfast dining was unbelievable. The waitress was downright rude and un inviting from the moment I entered and said 'Good morning ' She seemed annoyed by our presence and grudgingly whisked us to a table. When I enquired where the coffee machine was she bluntly snapped ' You've just walked past it's. This triggered me and I told her to go and got on with it myself. She returned to the table a minute or so later and got on bended knees in a very theatrical manner to apologise . My Wife told her she should not be working with the public and she then turned on the crocodile tears saying she was having a bad time. We all have bad times, we don't have to share the problem. She disappeared but I knew she had to take the cooked breakfast order so I went to find her. When I did find her she said she was 'Frightened' to come to the table. Needless to say we did not return for the breakfast we had all paid for on the second morning, opting for motorway services instead. A note on the bedroom flooring. This seemed to creak and squelch underfoot and at night the footsteps from the room above ours were unbelievable keeping us awake until 1.15am

Not a guest of premier inn, however the signs clearly state “parking only” AND “guest parking” because one of our roads was closed where we live there were no spaces left, so as a last resort we opted to park at premier inn and pay for it. Which my partner has done before. It wasn’t working on my partners phone so he went in to check with reception to ask for assistance - which got met with an extremely frosty response from the very rude woman on the reception desk. Went into a tirade about how she hopes they stop letting people park there, and how it should be guests only. So unnecessarily rude for no reason? I don’t understand why she had such a bee in her bonnet? So I felt the need to try and address it with her but it was useless as she just pulled the whole innocent card. What a horrible woman. I’d advise you get rid of her. This was premier inn in Colchester, St Peter’s street.

As always we were very impressed after our stay! My partner is a full-time wheelchair user and so accessibility and comfort are our main priorities, which the hotel never fail to provide (spacious accessible rooms with very large wet rooms etc). The staff are very friendly and helpful- especially Jess who has gone above and beyond for us our recent stays ❤️

On arrival we struggled to find parking, my brother popped in and was meet with Jess who found us the perfect parking solution. Not only was she attentive to our needs she was also super fun. She made us feel so welcome and immediate comfortable. Our visit was for Ibiza Orchestra at Colchester Castle park, we could believe how close we were to the venue, literally around the corner. That evening after a few drinks we popped back and the kind young man (didn't catch his name) kindly looked after a coat I had purchase at the venue. In the morning we went for breakfast, was a fantastic range of foods from an all day breakfast to pastries and cereal oh and plenty of fruit. Would I stay again, absolutely and when I do I hope I'm greeted with the same enthusiasm as we did this time. Customer service at this hotel I would give 100% A*
