Mixed feelings writing this review as the staff were friendly, engaging and willing to help. However this may be a 4 star hotel in status, but it’s not 4 stars in reality, far from what you would hope for, average 3 star at best. Our room had lumpy mattress, no shower gel, 1 cup for coffee, not 2 and no spoon to stir the coffee with 😳.Room had cobwebs and dust under TV cabinet. Breakfast was average and served with very weak coffee which we sent back. Even if they addressed our moans and food was good/exceptional I’d still say 3 star hotel with a small pool, NOT 4 stars sorry to say.

We booked a meal for Sunday lunchtime but was fully booked so dined at 5pm. The restaurant has a Lakeland fell view, is spacious & the staff were very friendly & efficient. We had the Sunday Roast Sharing Platter which came with a glowing reputation & certainly didn’t disappoint. Presentation was impressive on a large oak looking board. It comprised Tomahawk steak, chicken, roast potatoes, mashed potatoes, cauliflower cheese, mixed veg, Yorkshire Puddings & Pigs in Blankets. All were hot & cooked to perfection. There was certainly enough for 2 persons & we didn’t finish it all. The meal was finished with sorbet / brownie & coffee. It was a lovely relaxing ambience & a lovely meal, would totally recommend, in particular the sharing platter.

Double room excellent although very hot as on top floor and heat rises. Amazing dinner on the night we arrived. The best vegan home made pie, so tasty my husband preferred mine to his home mead chicken pie which was very good. Rib starter was heavenly, nachos home made, really home made and 10/10. Garlic bread excellent, fish and chips perfect. Beats the London Ivy food for homemade delicious. No fancy herbs to put off our 2 young sons, just amazing, real home cooked food. I will be dreaming about it and the meal will pull me to return sooner than anticipated. Pool good for kids, not to my taste, rented out for children to learn and you can tell. Certainly helped my 2 boys let off steam and very shallow so they could stand up easily in it.

Overall a nice stay, friendly staff and good bar prices. With no housekeeping couple things to mention - 2x toilet rolls not enough for family staying 2 nights and 1 set towels for pool and rooms also not enough, appreciate we could have asked but something's you shouldn't need to ask. Room was overall fairly clean but few stains on couch could do with being cleaned to ensure comfort.

My husband and I cannot fault our stay this weekend at the Embleton Hotel. We were warmly welcomed by Mags and offered a complimentary slice of cake and drink from the bar before being shown to our room. We stayed in the Rydal room which had beautiful exposed beams, a soft and comfortable bed as well as a bath with a separate shower. We decided to use the pool during our stay and although slightly aged in places, it was clean and warm. We chose to eat at the hotel for our evening meal and we couldn't fault the service of the staff. All staff were friendly throughout our time there. The views from the hotel are beautiful even when it rains. Our breakfast was included and we both chose a child's breakfast which was more than sufficient. Toast and cereal offered as well as a range of hot drinks and fruit juices. Absolutely delicious! Will definitely be coming back!

We had the Grasmere apartment room which was ideal for us. Spacious, clean and it had everything we needed. We were on a Dinner B&B deal and were very happy with it. Breakfast was lovely and relaxed. Dinner was also in a very relaxed atmosphere with a good menu and excellent food.

Fabulous hotel in the lake district. Food was amazing. Rooms extremely comfortable and ALL the staff were so friendly. Definitely recommend this hotel. Central to all the places you want to visit and in a beautiful location near Cockermouth and Keswick.

Beautiful apartment. We took dogs and they loved it. Staff fantastic. It was my husbands 60th and staff gave him a bag of gifts and card. Food is beautiful . We shared a 30 0z tomahawk steak the first night. We couldn't eat it all. Worth the money. Can't fault anything this is our 2nd time here. Will go back again . Swimming and sauna was lovely. Staff will help with anything. We needed a towel for are dogs to wipe there feet and they got us 1. Lots of places to walk. There's a destillary about 10 mins away. Worth the visit

Found this hotel on the Internet. Only stayed one night. Wish it had been a little bit longer. The room was very clean the bed very comfortable. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Margaret, the duty manager, made us feel very welcome, and as we were early, she checked to see the room was ready. I will definitely book here again, Without a doubt, the hotel has a gym and a swimming pool and sauna. Which I used, very good. I would recommend this hotel, if your in the lakes 9 miles outside of keswick.. couldn't fault the place.
