Great pub in a great location near Scarborough and the Cleveland Way. Comfortable rooms, clean bathrooms, and provisions, including tea, coffee, biscuits, water, shampoo, and shower gel, are restocked daily. Really friendly and helpful staff, who went out of their way to help when the twin room we thought we had booked did not exist, and we needed breakfast earlier than the start time as we were leaving early to walk the Cleveland Way. Please note that if you are booking a room through a third party website, they all advertise the Blacksmiths Arms as having twin rooms when they do not. And breakfast is served from 8.30am. Overall, a very pleasant stay in a lovely pub.

Spacious car park. Extremely welcoming and friendly owners and staff. We travelled as a couple and a single friend. Check-in was smooth and efficient for us, but our friend had an issue with her booking, resulting in her not having a reservation. The staff and the owner couldn't have done enough to help. They didn't have a room for her the first night, but thebowner ran another local establishment and managed to get her a room at the Station, which was a short walk away and again, was a lovely friendly place. She was, however, able to stay at the Blacksmith Arms for the second night. Rooms: we had a superior 4 poster overlooking the car park. The room was bright, spacious, and very clean. The only negative to this room was that it's above the kitchen, so you hear the extractor fan. This didn't bother us as it wasn't constant or too loud, but if you're sensitive to noise, it's worth noting. The bed was one of the comfiest that I have slept in, with good quality pillows and bedding. Our friend had a room in the annexe, which was also lovely. It was more modern but still cosy with the same attention to detail. These rooms are also good for anyone with access issues. Food: Great breakfast, with food cooked to order. We ate in the restaurant on both nights. We all enjoyed the food we had. The service was excellent, and again, all the food is cooked from fresh, so you may have to wait, but it's worth it. Bar: lovely atmosphere in the bar, with a good choice of beers and wines. Location: we left the car parked up for two days as there is a bus stop outside, with a 1/2 hourly service to either Scarborough, Whitby, Robin Hoods Bay. Unfortunately, there was an accident on the main Whitby to Scarborough Road, which did affect the afternoon bus service. We used a local taxi to get back from Scarborough, which was £15.00. All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, excellent pub/hotel, great hosts, good location - would definitely stay here again, and have no hesitation in recommending.

Excellent pub. A very welcoming atmosphere from the landlord and all staff who provided excellent service and proper pub food. Well presented and very tasty. We had it recommended to us and it did not fall short. We even went back for the weekly quiz (Weds) and had a great chat with other customers.

We booked here for my husbands birthday and we were not disappointed in any way. - we took my mum along with us and we all had a lovely meal - just enough choice and variety - it has a nice homely feel about it too. Can thoroughly recommend people come here and eat

Popped in when passing by walking the dogs. Dogs are welcome, initially we sat outside in the lovely patio area but moved inside when it started raining. We were made to feel very welcome so stayed and ordered lunch. Didn’t have to wait long even though you can tell the meals are made fresh to order, delicious. Will definitely return and will recommend.
