At the time of booking, their website presented the hotel as a family run establishment with a luxurious atmosphere and an award winning restaurant. However, upon arrival, it was clear that the reality did not match the marketing. There was no mention on their site that the hotel had changed ownership, nor any indication that services and standards may have changed as a result. The room we were given, despite being described as a “superior” room, was tired and far from luxurious. There was no real coffee, as advertised, and none of the promised homemade shortbread on arrival and there were no bathrobes. Our friends’ room did not even have a shower, which is basic facility one would expect. The overall feel of the hotel was disorganised and amateur, far from the professional and refined experience we had been led to anticipate. This was particularly disappointing as we were celebrating my husband’s 80th birthday - a special occasion we had hoped would be acknowledged with some warmth and care. As a result, we had to provide our own. No gesture was made by staff - no decorated table, no kind words, no effort to mark the occasion at all, which felt extremely disappointing and unwelcoming. Due to the overall experience and the marked contrast between what was advertised and what was delivered, we made the decision to leave a day early.

We have just returned from a three night stay at Trigony House, and hope to be able to return soon. Wendy, Peter and their team work really hard to ensure their guests stay is as relaxing as it can be. The food is delicious, the rooms are spotless and the house is amazing. The bed in room 1 was so comfortable, and, even though it overlooks the car parking & front entrance area, the room was so quiet we slept very soundly. We will definitely stay again if we return to the area.

Warm welcome, lovely woodland setting, room and bathroom very clean, traditional decor, dinner well cooked and tasty, especially the roast pheasant, service good. An old building so some aspects eg window frames , showing wear. Nearbye small town of Thornhill attractive. Handy for visiting Drumlanrig castle.

The all round experience of staying three nights at the Trigony House Hotel, Closeburn, Scotland was absolutely excellent. The hotel, the location, the dining experience (the food absolutely spot on [dined the three nights]); the entire team being so warm, welcoming, sociable so enthusiastic to ensure your stay is perfect. Such a peaceful, relaxing environment; can recommend the Garden Suite - what a space, with your own totally private garden! As for value for money - again - absolutely excellent. My Lady and I spent a good chunk of a rainy afternoon indulging in some spa treatments. From our experience - cannot rate or recommend the Trigony House Hotel and the team of people there highly enough.

Gorgeous hotel and amazing food. The breakfast is probably the best hotel breakfast we've had. The staff are warm and friendly and nothing is too much trouble. I have absolutely fallen in love with Trigony and we will definitely be back very soon.

Fabulous place to stay. Beautiful room with a huge comfy bed, deep double-ended bath & a separate shower. Food in the restaurant was great for both dinner & breakfast plus great service. The house has a lovely garden too. The cosy bar is perfect for a relaxing drink before & after dinner. Loved it!

Lovely stay...wasn't far from home and wanted a quiet escape. Lovely charm to this building. The food is absolutely stunning. The extras such as homemade shortbread, jams, bread rolls and I agree breakfast stunning. Would happily return

We booked the garden suite and were not disappointed. This is a characterful old hall. Sone areas reflect this fact and add to the ambience. The suite had a conservatory and private garden. Very comfortable and relaxing. Food was outstanding, both at breakfast and evening meal! We went to find the Chef to tell him so. No doubt we will return when back this way.
