Residence Inn Detroit Sterling Heights

Another business travel trip with a happy twist. This hotel's location is a bit unusual in that it is set very far off the main road and doesn't have any signage on the main drag. It's a bit sad because it is a nice facility and I enjoyed my stay. I was greeted warmly by the front desk team member. She asked the floor that I would prefer. Such a nice touch. I asked for a corner room on the top floor. The young lady happily obliged. The facility has a very neat feature: a separate indoor fireplace and outdoor firepit. My room was spacious and clean. It was a wonderful stay

Second stay here in the past 60 days. New hotel, clean comfortable rooms. Great location. This new hotel is poorly managed. Both visits we had an unpleasant breakfast experience. Constantly running out of food items and coffee and no one to replenish them. No towels in the pool or fitness center. When I asked at front desk, I was told that they were in the wash. So I asked for regular room towels….none available. We were told that they were sold out the night before and no towels were available. It was not uncommon to try to call down to the front desk and be placed on hold 7+ minutes. Nice addition to the area for Marriott, but much improvement is needed

This is one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in barring dives and dumps where you pay by the hour! The garbage can was left in the room still full, as well as a large paper bag full of half eaten fast food. It was already starting to stink up the room! It was totally disgusting. The dishcloth towels in the kitchenette were stinky and not cleaned, probably left over from the previous guests. And to top it all off, they not only messed up my bill when I checked out, but all three of my business colleague's bills as well. My advice to anyone travelling in the area...book elsewhere...it's that simple. I will never return.

Beautiful new hotel, very quiet location. I would have given a 5 star, but the hallways are pretty loud (doors slamming and I can hear TVs as I pass by rooms). The furnace in the room is also very loud, which may explain why TVs can be heard in the hallway - sound has to be turned up over the sound of the furnace. With that being said, I would most definitely stay here again if the need arose.

The room was inviting and comfortable. Amenities were good.

This was my 2nd stay at this location. Room was in a high traffic area, so not as quiet. You need to have cash if you plan to use laundry (even to get quarters), so that was a slight inconvenience. Still looked to book again, but room prices shot up significantly in a day since I left.

This hotel could be great if upkept better. First they accidentally put me in a room that wasnt cleaned, bedding was on the floor and trash was piled up in the kitchen so i had to call down to the front tell them.... they had myself and my luggage come down 4 floors back to the front only to go right back up and put me in the room next door to it. Breakfast once again could be great but its not upkept much... packaged food like jimmy dean sandwiches in the warm tables, and the sausage looked like it was steam cooked. Not browned at all. Last but not least i stayed there 3 nights after the first night i asked the feont desk if we got house keeping she said no, not unless you request it they usually only clean between stays, well while I was at my work event someone went into the room anyways did bring new towels which was nice but left a note stating they couldnt make the beds because i had a few clothing items on it. No hot tub. Pool area didnt have towels we had to ask for some and there was wads of hair floating in the pool so we did not swim but a few seconds.

The property was convenient and the service was excellent. We had the opportunity to meet Sara the front desk representative. We had issues with our booking through ******* but Sara handled it like a pro. She was very polite, courteous and easy to work with. Overall all the staff we encountered were awesome! The room was excellent although the curtains had a coffee stain on them and the water was cold. I figured out the vanity and tub faucets must be turned on at together and the water heats up fast! I will definitely stay again!
