This is the go to place in Cley for a friendly welcome (but watch out for the pair of overfriendly French bulldogs of the owner). Food, beer and ambience are all top notch. I liked it so much I bought a house on the same day a couple of doors down to make it my local !

We pushed our booking back from 7.30 to 8.30. Bad move. We were continually reminded we were keeping the kitchen waiting. Ronan, our “server” had no interest. No wine list. He just told me the names of some wines. Steak was over cooked. Fish cakes were bland. And then, at the end, the owner begged for a tip. Be benevolent he said! So embarrassing 😬

Pleasant restaurant with friendly good service and nice atmosphere. The menu is varied and interesting. The food was good with generous portions. We will return.

The most excellent food with lovely hosts who made us feel very welcome. Lots of choice on the menu and as a veggie I opted for the lentil pastry Sunday roast, delicious. The puddings are heavenly!! Highly recommend this lovely place even if for a drink after a long walk along the coastal path. 5 star +

Arrived after lunch on a Sunday and hadn’t booked as walked from Stiffkey…. Had the most delicious roast beef. The service and welcome was just spot on and we are looking for an excuse to visit again soon. The roast beef was cooked beautifully and the veggies were delicious too!

Loved our stay at the Harnser. Rustic charm meets excellent dining with lovely wine. The rooms are cosy and well equipped. The owners made us feel welcome and this was the best place to eat in Cley by far. The hotel is on the high street , but parking was fine. We started each day with a walk through the marshland to the sea. Highly recommended .

A very pleasant evening - good service, great food, busy atmosphere. Very welcoming staff who made every effort to change a late online reservation to an earlier time. Seafood Assiete starter was excellent and very generous, crab salad tasty and well presented, pork fillet very good. Lemon tart with raspberry ice cream and coulis a nice dessert. Overall very good quality food and good value.

Having driven past The Harsner many times thinking we must go there, today we did. And what a gem it is! Booked for Sunday lunch and we knew from the welcome it was going to be good. Friendly and attentive staff, beautifully cooked roast beef & pork (we did see the vegetarian option which also looked good) washed down by Châteauneuf-du-Pape that is sold by the glass. What's not to like?
