Property Description
Location, Location, Location Just a few miles off I-20 (exit 210, a little over an hour from both Atlanta and Birmingham) this tiny house is located on forty acres which is a combination of fields and mature, natural hardwood and pine forest. The nearest neighbors both north and south are ½ mile distance. East and west are several miles of company owned timber land. The 1/4+ mile gravel drive is gated and in good shape. Point being, this unique property offers one complete privacy. This is no campground with multiple cabins and the tiny house is the only rental on the property. This is NOT a vacation type area such as North Georgia or other such places. (although the Talladega National Forest is only 10 miles distance) Peace and quiet in a very private, beautiful natural setting is the point here. More of a retreat than a vacation. Available on weekends only this is a place to get away from it ALL for a couple of days. No wi-fi, no television available!! (Not for everybody :) The cell coverage is good. There are no street lights any where near, the result being incredibly dark, star filled skies. (So worth gazing upon!) There are a couple of miles of well marked walking trails. Wildlife is abundant. There is a fishpond if interested. (Bass and bream, bring your poles and bait!) The Tiny House The tiny house has a total of 300 sq. ft and is an A-frame. There is a deck, partially covered. Nothing fancy here but it has everything needed for a comfortable stay. Cozy you might say. AC and heat of course. Understand, with such limited space everything is small. (except the bed! it's a queen, some things can not be compromised!) Amenities include a small Mr. Coffee, french press, coffee grinder, and electric kettle. (coffee beans, earl gray tea and the fixins' are provided) For indoor cooking there is a microwave, toaster oven, “Liddle Griddle” and mini crock pot. On the deck is a gas grill with a side burner. There is a fire ring to the front of the cabin and long sausage/dog forks as well as a burger/fish/anything else basket for open fire cooking. Yum (one nights firewood is provided) Details CHECK IN-OUT: Check in is noon all days. Check out on Saturday and Sunday is 6pm, Monday is noon. WHAT TO BRING: Pretty much everything you need, food, drink, ICE, toiletries etc. Provided are salt/pepper, olive oil, popcorn and coffee/tea and fixins. Bedding, towels etc provided. CLEANING: As you've probably noticed we have not tacked on the typical $50-$75 cleaning fee. It is our hope that folk are willing to clean up after themselves in order to realize these savings. It is a tiny house and it shouldn't take much to leave the cabin just as you found it. All needed cleaning supplies are on site. We will take care of the bedding and towels so no need to make up the bed. Thank you. (of course we check and make sure the cabin is clean for guests) THE TRAILS: The nature trail is totally worth walking/running. The trail starts about 30 feet to the south of the cabin. It is marked for clock-wise direction. If the entire trail is traversed as marked it is 1.2 miles with 200+ ft of elevation. FISH POND: Guests are welcome to fish the pond. You are also welcome to clean and eat what fish are caught. CYCLING: I am a cycling enthusiast and there is STELLAR cycling opportunities in Cleburne County. Lonely country roads for roadies, miles and miles of gravel for gravelers. (National Forest) Warden Station Horse Park for Mountain bikers. ( Coldwater Mountain Bike park is 28 miles distance and there are trails at Fort McClellan also) OTHER STUFF: As mentioned Cleburne County is not a touristy kinda place but there a few things around. Much of the Talladega National Forest is largely in Cleburne County. (25% of the county!) There are a couple of lakes and some great, uncrowded hiking. (The Pinhoti) Cheaha State Park, with all the expected amenities is also in the county. (highest point in Alabama) If you are a fan of muscadine wine there are 2 wineries with tasting rooms. High Country Cellars in Heflin and Fruithurst Winery Co. -out in the country, vines on site, 7.5 miles. (recommended) FYI: There are 2 note books and a pen on the bedside table. One is for suggestions and comments. We genuinely appreciate these as we are always looking for ways to tweak this place. The other is a guest registry and “thoughts” book. Name and date of stay would be nice. This place with it's quiet, natural beauty and isolation is great for reflective thinking. Some like to write down these musings and others might find these meditations interesting, even helpful. You are so very welcome here and we truly hope your stay is a joy. Thanks, Jerry, Mary Jane and family. Incredible cabin and overall experience! From the homegrown veggies and freshly-picked flowers waiting for us when we got there, to the serenely peaceful environment and proximity to the talladega national forest…I can’t overstate how wonderful our stay was. Cooking over the campfire every night with the stars above us and barely any light pollution was something I could get used to. Lounging in the hammock under the shade tree during the day with the light breeze was like heaven on earth. Truly a pastoral paradise. The mix of open rolling hills with the mountain view in the distance and forest all around you is perfection. It conjures a feeling of expansive freedom but also protective seclusion all at the same time. A perfect place for a solo retreat or for couples to get away from the noise of everyday life. And you can’t beat the check-in and out times! Jerry was probably the best host I have ever interacted with. Super accommodating and responsive. I can’t recommend this place enough!

Perfect getaway from Atlanta city living! It was so relaxing staying in this perfect little place! Being out in nature was just perfect, and we had everything we needed! We did find the Heflin waterfall after a couple of hikes - we started at the Cahulga Creek Park and walked across the big hill (where a dam used to be?) and once you approach the forest, take a left and follow the white marks on the trees - keep following - it will have you take a left after about a mile or so and you'll eventually start going down a steep hill. When you get to the creek, take a right and follow that down a little ways and you'll eventually come up to a stunning waterfall! We also recommend going to see the oldest tree in Alabama - it's not too far and it's huge! Thank you, Jerry and family, for being such wonderful hosts! We'll be back!

The cabin I was a beautiful cabin with walking trails that were marked so you couldn't get lost. I wish we could have stayed a week instead of the weekend. I would stay here again the next opportunity I can.

Amazing weekend getaway My husband and I went to the tiny house for a quick weekend getaway and we were blown away! The tiny house was so clean, and cozy! My husband enjoyed fishing at the pond, and I loved reading on the hammock. Jerry was awesome and communicated everything we needed! We are looking forward to going back!

A secret hideaway We loved this adorable A-Frame, tucked back in the woods. The host was super helpful and responsive. It was exactly as we expected, from the peacefulness to the trails atound the property. Since we knew in advance that he has a coffee grinder, we brought some of our favorite beans. The wood pile for campfires was well done, w fire starters and nicely split wood. Our main objective was to get away from the noises of livingin town, and we were not disappointed. We towed our motorcycle up with us to ride the scenic roads through the mountains and it was amazing!
