Island Cay Hotel - Clearwater Beach

Please read all the reviews Trip advisors, it appears, give the most balanced reviews. Others seem to share only good reviews because it's probably in their interest. It is close to the beach. Our experience started here with an overcharge. The images do not reflect the accommodation. This place is no more than a hostel charging hotel rate. As one previous reviewer said, the place had a musty smell, drowned out by something like mildue, completely run down and out dated. The air conditioning is like a generator on the wall. Even the neighbours one kept us awake when we turned our own off. Make sure to bring your own pillows. We were due to stay 11 nights We left after night 1 We seeked a partial refund because of the issues that we couldn't have known about before we arrived. We got the same nonsense as the other replies here. If we had known If you had said something If you gave us a chance to rectify it. There was an amount returned to us.This was the overcharge at the beginning. We got an email the next morning looking for a 5 star rating as it would be damaging for them if it was less. Holding on to your money is more important to them than reviews Be warned, if you book here don't expect much. Avoid like the plague.

Stayed at Monaco Vacation Rentals July 26-29. Room 130 is small and located next to office. TV seats very low on the console and should be installed on the wall. Also we did not get any room service for our stay, no emptying out garbage can, no fresh towels, etc. If you are a light sleeper this may not be the place for you. Wall A/C is very loud and room was musty. Pool open from dust to dawn but the two nights that we were there we were waken by people partying in pool area (first night 1:45 AM and second night 11:30 pm) I was told the next day by Antony via messenger that we could have communicated with them about the noise and that we should have called the non emergency number. Hotel location is good, walking distance to beach. I booked this room via VRBO and paid $430.43 for 2 nights. $140.50 per night plus Host Fees $105.43 (cleaning fee $65 tax $40.43) and Service Fee $44. I will no longer book thru VRBO our friends booked directly with the hotel and paid almost $100 less than us. I will not be a repeat guest.

This review is being made without actually getting to stay at the hotel and travel date was for when I WANTED to travel. Just called the hotel to find out if a room I booked 2 months ago had a kitchenette. There is a voicemail message stating that the lobby is closed and that any reservation made for after April 1st is no longer valid. Great. We are a week away from our trip and sure we will pay dearly for accommodations now IF there are any. Furthermore, I did not get an email alerting me to this fact. When I made the reservation, I received confirmation from the service innRoad GDS Reservation Alert. SO glad I called to find out about the amenities or else my husband and I would have shown up mid April to closed doors!

Should be negative stars if allowed! My husband and I stayed in room 106 for three nights. Well both of us have never been in such a dump! Dirty does not even begin to describe this place! Dirty sticky floors, dirty bathroom with a sink that didn’t drain, bed that I think was a air mattress, very old kitchenette with rusty appliances and furniture that I was afraid to sit on without a towel underneath me! This place has no ice machines, no hairdryer that works and no management on site….. and it’s not cheep they charge top dollar for this dump. Nothing like the pictures they show on their website.

Not a lot of bells and whistles, but a great location. We were in 115 right by the pool area. There are definitely issues with upkeep but the management appears to be trying. Full size fridge/ regular microwave. Coffee maker and coffee/sugar provided. Beach towels and chairs provided. Easy access to the beach across Mandalay.. There is a pool

Stay away from this hotel! I'm generally a pretty easy to please person and have never left a bad review. Booked this hotel from the photos that I saw on this site and our room was nothing like it. It was no better than a hostel. Walked into the bathroom to see feces in the toilet. The room only had one accessible outlet. Not a single outlet in the bathroom. Holes in the bathroom wall. When we arrived we had no soap, shampoo or conditioner available. I had to call the hotel since they don't keep a front desk open. The woman said she'd have to see if the manager was on site. Thankfully he was but he literally brought us random shampoo, conditioner and soap that didn't even match each other. It was almost like they stole them from other places and piecemealed them for the guests. I ended up leaving and booking at the Fairfield across the street instead. The woman at the Fairfield said I wasn't the first person that had to do that. Now I'm working on trying to get a refund from the hotel which is a nightmare! Stay away from here!

We arrived and outside looks nice except for pool it’s is filthy and cold. Said it’s heated but it’s not!! The room is so so small and dated not table or anything to sit our suitcases on no chairs bed is saggy and bathroom is terrible the toilet hardly works you have to lift the floater in the tank to get it to flush!! Never again will we stay here!! Bad choice

This motel is north of the main Clearwater beach with a small pool on premises. The room was small, dark and dingy. There’s a tiny bathroom that has holes in the tile that have been painted over, as have parts of the shower pan and the sink. The room needs an upgrade. The price is right for what it is, I guess but I’d pay more for more updated room.

I stayed at the Island Cay January 2nd 2022 thru January 4th 2022. The location is great; near everything yet far enough from all the people and traffic. The beach is less than half a block away thru the back door. The room was clean and comforty, which served its purpose. The only issue I had was the mattress. I am used to a firm/hard mattress and the one in my room wasn't too firm. Overall for the price, it was good and fair but i wouldn't pay more than I did then.
