So disappointed in this hotel. Myself along with 30ish coworkers stayed here for an event 10 days ago that was supposed to be paid through my work....Seven Gables made a mistake and charged all of us individually instead of charging our company and has still not refunded us. I spoke with the front desk and they informed me that their sales department never told them to charge the company card and that's why all of us were charged individually instead. Myself, along with other employees and my company have reached out to Seven Gables asking for this to be resolved and it has not. We checked out of this hotel on Wednesday, June 26th, I am writing this review on Saturday, July 6th and Seven Gables told me it MIGHT still take 7+ business days to receive my refund. Every time I have called I keep just getting told "we are working on it" but have not received any solid answers. We were each charged around $700 and it feels like Seven Gables does not know how to process refunds. Ridiculous!

We were a little concerned to stay here based on reviews, but we had a fabulous stay! The hotel is very conveniently located. The parking is very easy directly across the street. Plenty of restaurants close by including Starbucks and chipotle around the corner. We got sandwiches at Pastaria market/deli also around the corner and they were soo good. The hotel’s continental breakfast was great each morning with eggs, pancakes or French toast, bacon, potatoes, fruit, pastry, breads, juices, coffee. There was always someone at the front desk if we needed anything. The shower was huge! We stayed on the third floor and never heard anyone else in the hall or next door. Only negative was the room was REALLY small and we had reserved a “deluxe” king. It was fine because we were mainly in the room at night, but something to keep in mind.

I try to start with the positive, so will note here that the few staff that we did see were uniformly hard-working and friendly. I think the deck is totally stacked against them by an uncaring owner and management. This is our first year of titanium elite status and were willing to burn one of our benefit upgrades, but apparently none were available. The room that was assigned to us might have worked for a single traveler (there were two of us). It had only a small bench (we had to put one suitcase there and one suitcase across a chair). There was a single charging station on one side of the bed, but none on the other. There was one available outlet per side of the bed; the other supplied the bedstand lamp, so it was not possible to charge a phone and run a computer simultaneously on one side of the bed. There was one robe. The "closet" was a six inch rod squeezed between the wall and some shelving; there was only room to hang two items. There was only one small window for the room (there were three in the bathroom with frosted glass), so the room was dark. The 'view' from the window was a live utility pole, approximately 2 feet away, and a multitude of open dumpsters in the alley below. I could go on and on, but will stop here. This might be able to work for a single business traveler who is not paying personally for the trip and who will spend little time in the room. But to burn personal dollars for this "Inn" is not recommended.

Lovely European style hotel in the heart of Clayton - walk to restaurants and stroll in nearby neighborhoods. On the National register of historic places, so the hotel exudes charm, while rooms have all been updated. Service is the best - I was greeted by a friendly face every time I entered. Breakfast is really convenient and delish with lots of choices. Seven Gables has been my go-to hotel in St Louis for iver 25 years and it just keeps getting better.

If you’re after a cozy boutique experience in Clayton, a suburb of St Louis this is the hotel to try. Easy parking but if you need a valet they offer this service. We were greeted at the door by Jason Winkelmann the General Manager, who made us feel as if he was welcoming us to his home. He even recommended certain menu items at the on site restaurant, Seven. Our room was lovely and spacious with plenty of storage. Too bad we were only there one night. Prior to dinner we had drinks in the lively bar off the lobby. Then off to dinner in a sweet courtyard. It reminded us of Europe. The food was exceptional. My husband enjoyed an excellent Chicken Pot Pie while I had Osso Bucco. Every interaction we had with employees was professional and approachable. A true jewel in Clayton!

The room was not cleaned from previous guests. There was food debris on the floor. The room smelled like mold. Not only did they not move us to a clean room, the second day it still had not been clean. There is only one person working in the hotel and no manager ever came or responded.

I'm on the fence rating SEVEN GABLES INN a 3, when my gut is saying 2. It's just not anything near to its Marriott advertising/promo. I've stayed at 3 Marriott Tribute Portfolio Collection hotels in as many months, and each was disappointing in a number of ways. But I'll try be fair. Our "Larger Studio King" came in at $1,018.12 total for a Friday through Sunday stay (3 nights, Fri. @$280, Sat & Sun @ $297 plus taxes, plus $9 daily to self-park across the street in an unsecured lot, and some unknown amount to use the in-room safe, which required a credit card to use - I skipped that!) So at these rates, It's reasonable to expect excellent quality. Room 318 was spacious, with an "open plan" that included a seating area w/sofa & tv, reading chair, then the bed occupying the lion's share of the room, plus a large bathroom. TOTO washlet toilet seat was an appealing feature there. There was a coffee maker w/capsules, but we had to ask for replacements after our first night & morning, since they ignored that little jog in the living area when they tidied up the 2nd day. The mini refrigerator had no freezer, and when we asked the desk the location of their ice machine, were told there is none in the hotel. We asked for luggage racks since there was insufficient surfaces on which to place luggage. We don't like to empty everything out on arrival, even for three nights. Not possible, no luggage racks in this hotel. One closet had a few hangers, the other had none. Had to call down again to have more delivered. We slept fine and the room was quiet enough once we shut off the air conditioning, which is very loud. I don't like to feel as if I'm on a transatlantic flight with the engine droning on when I'm in a hotel. If you like white noise, this wouldn't affect you. I can't tolerate it, so...the building must be fairly well insulated as our room stayed comfortable all night. We dropped the a/c down when we were out of the room, to keep it cool, but shut it off whenever we were in the room. Tried but couldn't open any windows (there were four small windows in this unit). Had to ask for a 2nd robe, and there were no slippers as listed among the amenities. A problem in this building that is on the National Register of Historic Buildings is that there are very few wall outlets, so we had to switch out our devices often. There was one multi-connect electric plug-in on one side of our bed, but not on the 2nd nightstand. This would have been useful. Being an antique building, the floors and the bathroom door creaked loudly, a problem in the middle of the night when one of us rose to use the bathroom. No way NOT to wake up your partner. Can't remember the last time I wish I'd brought along some WD40. At breakfast downstairs (independent of the in-house restaurant "Seven" that appears to be an independent operation) it was basic Marriott motel fare, though numerous Marriott suite hotel properties like Springhill Suites offer far better breakfast options. This hotel has a boutique European feel. Thus, the rooms are small but well appointed. The bathroom was larger than I would have expected. There is also parking across the street from the hotel. The hotel offered a complimentary breakfast and had a friendly bar! The location in Clayton was great as well.

If you are ever passing thru St Louis and need a hotel, Seven Gables Marriott Portfolio Collection in Clayton is an excellent choice. 1928 restoration hotel with good amenities. Enjoyed time at the 7 Restaurant chatting with Walker, Food and Beverage Mgr, for a couple hours last night which made for a fun evening. Walker was back early this morning for Sunday brunch. Excellent food and atmosphere. Restaurant is so good the locals come there for dinner and special occasions. Walker has secured an awesome chef who runs the kitchen and a mixologist. The breakfast wa so good with Kevin at the omelette station. The Seven Restaurant and Walker are awesome. We joked that Walker who is a food and bev mgr but he met us at the door, helped us with the car in lieu of a valet, luggage cart and that was our first impression of service at this hotel. We stopped at the local grocery store Snooks on the way out of town and the store manager said he’s a regular and so are those who live in the area at The Seven after Walker joined the team. It says lots when the locals eat there.
